German women rebel against government plan to pay parents to keep their toddlers at home

BERLIN - A group of women in German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservative bloc insisted Friday they would not support a coalition plan to pay parents to care for their toddlers at home, arguing the money could be better spent on expanding child care centers.

There is nothing wrong with helping stay-at-home moms. But if you leave women who do not make that choice with no option, it's fucking wrong.

To be fair, it's not officially called "Herdprämie". That's something critics came up with afaik. It also got elected as "Unwort des Jahres" (Faux-pas word of the year) a few years ago.
