That's exactly what bothered me too!

He's been ARRESTED for domestic violence, but he doesn't even get so much as a slap on the wrist, if these articles are anything to go by, but she gets punished based on rumours which may or may not have basis in reality?!

I'm not getting this comment, which bothers me 'cause I'm Indian and all but it does seem like you're making some jackass generalization using sarcasm, which would be really fucked up considering that the example of misogyny/sexism the article discusses is not nor has it ever been specific to India.

I am Indian. However, my comment was not meant to be in a condescending way. I'm just perplexed to the reactions that some of close peers have shown towards this issue, that's it. Take it with a grain of salt if you'd like.

I'm not sure why I wouldn't take it in a condescending way (well actually that's not the right word at all but whatever) since I had no way of knowing it was in response to a reaction of your close peers/your intentions. And honestly since I think it's reasonable to assume most people in this community aren't Indian I'm rather bothered that it's here because it gives the appearance of just being a snide remark about India and (I'm not even sure how to word this) I don't want other people to think that's OK?

Wait, wait, wait, so the guy can get ARRESTED on charges of domestic violence and continue to act without repercussion, but the woman is punished for UNCONFIRMED RUMOURS?

What.
