I'm really disgusted that this is coming from a guy in my home state, though he's GOP so naturally he thinks everyone who is non-American or non-citizen is a complete waste of space.

That's like saying if an illegal immigrant was murdered on American soil, we shouldn't investigate it because it doesn't matter. How bad do Americans look if we don't investigate a rape against an illegal immigrant because chances are the scumbag was bred on our soil.

Rape is a crime that is under-reported (because of how survivors are treated), under-prosecuted (because our culture believes that survivors 'cry rape' after a night of sexual contact they regret and the onus is always on the survivor to prove that they did nothing to 'lead the rapist on' or 'consent without realizing it' or other such victim-blaming bullshit) and under-convicted because the survivors are always the ones who are guilty until proven innocent
