U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said the health initiative should include access to safe and legal abortions.

She's got a fair point, but the Canadians can say with equal justice, "and where's the abortion provision in your #hcr, eh?"

On topic, but off the immediate one, this gem from RH Reality Check about "safe and legal, but not rare".

It's getting really tiring having a minority government prime minister acting as though his view represents the Canadian majority. Then again given how often he prorogues whenever his ass needs saving, I know this cowardly, ideological swine doesn't give a shit.

I was arguing with my step-father because he said Harper's reasoning is that we don't have the money to fund abortions and that we have "more important" issues to take care of.

Harper would only say his government would not be "closing doors against any options, including contraception."

Just abortions, that's all! No big deal.

Stephen Harper has a terrible track record when it comes down to women. He doesn't even support equal pay. I was wary of this when it first came out, and I hate to say I'm not surprised. It's incredibly disappointing to see that this is how Canada is represented on the world stage.

I did not know this.

Who the fuck doesn't support equal pay?! Even the most low-down misogynist chucklefucks I've ever met think that equal work=equal pay. In theory.

"British Foreign Secretary David Miliband has also said Britain would oppose a plan that doesn't include a comprehensive menu of family planning options.
Thankfully.

This is obviusly atrocious but I'd like to know more about the actual healthcare initiative and how it's going to work (google only sends me to abortion articles) and if it is for all developing countries, including those like Congo where impregnation through rape is an extremely serious problem.
