True. I'm also not fussed that he said he didn't wear the puzzle piece pin of his own volition - I've been diagnosed with Asperger's, and have several other relatives on the spectrum, and I'd never wear one.

what i do know is that we have apparently gotten to the place where our outrage is so manufactured that we have to invent completely baseless reasons to be outraged with celebrities for turning down one job & accepting another fifteen years ago. disability is a serious thing & there are real struggles that disabled people are facing right now in 2011 that have fuck-all to do with alec baldwin's production schedule. perspective, please.

Well said. Can we talk about the grossly inadequate public special education system and the soft bigotry of low expectations? It would be much more productive.

First, let me say that I am far from one of those people who looks for reasons to be outraged. I didn't write this from the place of being offended and wanting to go after Alec Baldwin for no reason. I just thought it was strange that he allegedly turned down the one movie for the reason of child endangerment, then chose to star in this other one, which also had child endangerment. And what I should have made clear is that I do not think the child having autism was the sole reason why things changed. As you mentioned, there could have been numerous factors, and I apologize if I made it seem as though I didn't believe those existed. I know they do and could have ( ... )
