the world just makes me want to cry sometimes. i cannot understand the cruelty and hatred that people have for others who have done them no harm.

Not just a colonial remnant, religious homophobia is a current export of the US. But, yes, I agree.

Yeah, homosexuality was just decriminalized in this country (India) last year. It was enacted by the British in 1862 :/
I like this sentence in the High Court decision though -> “The inclusiveness that Indian society traditionally displayed, literally in every aspect of life, is manifest in recognizing a role in society for everyone,

My heart jumped up into my throat.

It's like that here too; the old laws against homosexuality that were instated during colonialism are still in place. Socially, though, the hatred is nothing like this. I'm praying that they can all stay safe.
