Fourth-grade teacher Jarretta Hamilton was newly married and expecting a baby when she went to speak with her supervisors in April of last year. But the administrators at Southland Christian School in St. Cloud parried her query about maternity leave with a query of their own: When did she conceive? Maybe her school shouldn't be asking about her conception date!

Yeah, I'd have lied too. I'd have been like, "Oh, lol, it's a preemie" (not being sarcastic)
Actually, if I needed an abortion and they disapproved of abortion, I'd have pretended it's a miscarriage.

Where do they even get off asking her when she conceived? How the fuck is this any of their business?

"We request that Jarretta withdraw her complaint and consider the testimony of the Lord," closed the letter.

1) They're a private school, so they really have free reign in this department, legally.

2) Somehow, I doubt that a male teacher in the same scenario would be fired.

I actually work at a Catholic High School and I had to sign a morality contract when I got hired. Basically, they can fire me for an unCatholic behavior. (For what it's worth, I donate my entire pay check from them-- it's a part time thing I do, not my "real" job--- to Planned Parenthood and gay rights organizations. That dirty money needs to be used for good!).

Also worth noting, they did fire a male teacher mid year for having scandalous (ie: sexualish) pictures on a social networking site.

I'm sure everyone else in their precious school is "sin-free." What hypocrites. Other than the fact that it's terrible they fired her in the first place, I sincerely doubt the date of her conception was going to be a huge topic of discussion for fourth graders.
