Belgium doesn't have any right to do that. Everyone, regardless of gender, should have the right to express their religious beliefs (so long as said beliefs do no harm to others, and I don't see how a woman wearing a burqa in public hurts anyone else) and this is a clear infringement upon that right.
how ridiculous! We're freeing women by restricting them? what? While I agree it may not always be the woman's choice to wear the veil, how are we any better by denying them the right to wear it if they wish?
I'm having such a problem being succinct and putting my thoughts on this into words, but so far I've got: Either a woman wearing the veil is doing it of her own freewill, and so banning it to dictate how she should be allowed to cover herself is disgusting. Or a woman is being forced to wear it. In which case don't these lawmakers think that if someone is going so far as to disallow a woman from leaving the house without the veil that now under the ban those who forced her to cover up before will now restrict the woman's movements from the house even more?
I really don't believe this ban can come from anything other than "fuck women and fuck Muslims" thought.
This is absurd. The women who wear the niqab or the burqa will now feel vulnerable and be forced to stay at home. They will completely fail to integrate with the rest of society. The ONLY way that you will stop women wearing the niqab or the burqa is through education.
