i agree with pretty much everything about this comment. i know what he was trying to say about the role model thing, but ohh apolo. somewhere off camera yuki is just shaking his head. and yeah, i can totally see him at that time sneaking whatever free alcohol he could, just because.

I feel like I remember some thing where he briefly mentioned that when he started competing with short track, he was always much younger than his peers, so I can imagine shenanigans going down. Nowadays he's definitely trying to downplay anything like that from his image, though. 2002 Apolo and 2010 Apolo do not always jive in my head - of course there would be a big difference between 19 and 27!

i sometimes forget too, because of his twitter. when i first started following him i almost unfollowed him because i was SO annoyed. but now, it strangely makes me love him more, because he's just so damn...earnest.

but yeah, i love videos that remind you of his personality. i love the dwts practice videos before the performances because he's always hilarious and making faces and just being a dork.

New thought: it is making me so sad how consistently committed to gelling his hair back Apolo seems to be these days. :( The only way this is acceptable is if it actually takes less time than his nice wavy look because he needs to maximize his free time.
