OK I promised this post to bitches on Twitter 2 days ago but IDK I'm lazy and easily distracted, and the material I'm going to cover is HUGE. Like, SRS BSN HUGE.
From the recent Plushy watchparty we had a few days ago, (btw the playlist is still here, do watch it if you've missed the party, especially if you guys have only seen his programs this season, because as much as I love him 09-10 season wasn't his best one D: ....yeah I'm calling the first season after 3 seasons which got him 3 golds and 1 silver a bad one :P Plushy is just FIERCE like that.)
I realised that some Plushy stan bitches on this comm do not know much about Plushy's past. It is a real shame, because one of the reason why I stan Plushy is because his life story is actually, you know, one which makes you go awwwwww and omg, and puts you on an emotional rollercoaster from D: to :'( to :')
So I thought, WTH, I think all of you lovely bitches deserve to know his childhood, even when you guys don't really stan him that much. :P I'll try to make the post less boring by luring you with jailbait Plushy pics/vids. OK BBS?
I'm going to tell you the story of how our lovable Russian Overlord became the BAMF that he is now.
This post is going to be a copy-pasting of important bits and adding random pics and vids summary of this article, my memory of some other interviews, and deciphering of google translation of his Russian autobiography, in bits where the two sources conflict each other. I won't inflict the entire article on you bitches because, you know, long article is long~ oh btw teruhiko deserves the Internet for giving us that Plushy picspam now I have more fapping pics than ever)
TEH BEGINNING

Evgeni was born in November 3rd, 1982 in Solnechni, Khabarovsk region in the Russian far east (for geographically illiterate, here), He calls his birthplace also "BAM" (Baikal-Amur Mainline railroad). He lived next to the railroad, in what was barely a village, simply one of the clusters of homes his father helped build. His parents worked for the railroad.

Zhenya (Zhenya is the Russian short name for Evgeni) was a very ill child and the temperatures, where often very cold, caused him to develop a chronic cough and he spent three months in the hospital with double-side pneumonia. As a result his parents decided to move to another city where Zhenya could have a better climate and grow healthy, they moved to Volgograd (formerly Stalingrad). (which is here)
Then his parents decided that Evgeni should do some sports, to become healthier. They taught him how to ski, they bought him a bicycle and made him train at home with a ladder, an horizontal bar and a swing. But most importantly, they got him doing dancing, and skating.

Evgeni's mother recalls the moment when Evgeni first got his skates which was TOTALLY AN ACCIDENT.
"Everything began with a present. As we where for a walk with Evgeni, we met an aquaintance who brought her daughter at home, the girl cried because she didn't wanted to skate anymore. My aquaintance saw Zhenya and asked him if he wants the skates. Zhenya said yes. "Ok, take them" and she gave him the skates of her daughter. "Everything happend totally by accident. In our family there is no sports traditions, no one of us ever did sports. Everything was just a coincidence."

Then Evgeni ended up excelling in both ballet dancing and figure skating. His dance coach asked to quite skating, and his skating coach asked to quit dancing...so his mama asked him what he wanted to do.
I don't think I need to tell you bitches which one he chose.
Evgeni started skating when he was 4 and two months old, and was trained at frist by Tatiana Skala, then by a former weightlifter, Mikhail Makoveyev. He trained Evgeni for seven years (1986-1993) and in those seven years, he taught him a lot.

Evgeni won his first competition at the age of seven at the Crystal Skate tournament in Samara.

At 1993, the rink where he skated was closed and it became an auto repair facility. His mom thought that that was the end of figure skating, but Evgeni thought another thing. He wanted to go to St. Petersburg or Moscow to train but his mom told him that they did not have any money for that.
However, his coach Mikhail Makoveyev saw potential to become a great skater in Evgeni, so he sent him to St. Petersburg to be coached by Alexei Nickolaevich Mishin, who was already famous as a coach of many top-class Russian skaters.

Hardcore Yags stans might cringe/shudder at his name. Well, this isn't a Yags post and to be brutally honest, what happened between Yags and Mishin wasn't Plushy's fault (except his existance, perhaps) so no hating and let's move on.
In order to have a first class training with Mishin, he had to live 1,000 miles away from home, to live by his own in the city of St. Petersburg at 11 years old.
ST. PETERSBURG

Even when he grew up, Evgeni is not very willing to talk about the first year of living in St. Petersburg. As he said, "I am trying to forget this time in my life now."
"I was little, I was afraid to be lost, I missed my parents. For the first time it was very hard, I had to go a lot from one part of the city to another by train."
He left his family, his home, his friends, everything, in order to pursue his dream. He left with his coach in a train, 1000 miles away, to meet Alexei Mishin. At first he lived with his former coach but that did not last that long...
...so with only 11 years of age, he was all alone in the city.
Evgeni had to live by his own for one year, his mom was supposed to live there with him, but when she arrived to St. Petersburg, she could not find a job there and the family needed the income from his mother and father in order that Evgeni could keep his training and live in St. Petersburg, so she had to come back to Volgograd.
Another one from a quote by Evgeni; "My father tried to feed the family, and still there was not enough money. My mother had to take a hellish job - she had to cover streets with asphalt."
Evgeni lived alone, fed himself, would skip his new school in St Petersburg where he was bullied for being a girly figure skater, and walk around in the streets aimlessly. The only thing he attended every day passionately was his practices.
When Alexei Mishin accepted Evgeni, he already thought that Evgeni was very talented. However, at that point Mishin was preoccupied with his other pupil, especially Alexei Urmanov, the 1994 Olympics champion, and did not have enough time for young skater such as Evgeni unless he was noticably excelling.
Evgeni did not have friends in the ice rink, because he was the new one, and because he was the youngest one. He wanted to get along, but in fact he would be bullied and beaten for years by older skaters (no Plushy didn't drop any names in his autobiography. Except Yagudin *rolls eyes*. Suffice to say that when he became older he thanked them for making him stronger, and says such violence or bullying will never happen between St Petersburg's skaters as long as he skates. Awww Plushy <3) until he really became Mishin's favourite and actually started to win competitions.

There were times when Evgeni's mother would beg him to come back, but he did not turn back, because he still wanted to skate. So Evgeni remained alone in St. Petersburg, until his mother could not let him be alone any longer, and came to live with him. His father stayed in Volgograd, because he had to earn money to feed his family, including Evgeni's sister, Helena.
When his mother came to live with him in St. Petersburg, that was right after the Soviet Union's collapse. It was extremely expensive to live in St. Petersburg and his mother could not get a job there because of high unemployment. In those days coaching with funded by the state so Evgeni did not have to pay to be coached, but they could not afford to live in St Petersburg with little money Evgeni's father sent from Volgograd.
Evgeni and his mother lived in an apartment where they shared with five entire families and other people. It was a very cheap place, found for them by Mishin. Still, that little money they paid for was extremely hard on them, and Evgeni would go to the street after practices and collect empty bottles, to exchange them with bread, and share an apple with his mother for breakfast and go to morning practice, while his mother would go out to collect more bottles.
Of course, Alexei Mishin and other people in his coaching staff tried to help them. Mishin would sometimes give them money if they could not get money even from collecting bottles, and after Mishin found out about that their living condition wasn't improving at all, he made Evgeni to stay with him and to be fed properly, and found a new place for Evgeni and his mother to live together, partially paying for his expenses.
Evgeni would stick to his coach, Mishin, like a baby. He always said, and still says that Mishin treats him as a son, and to Mishin, Evgeni became more than his student. Evgeni has become his favourite pupil, and to this day he thinks Evgeni as his other son (he has twin sons with his wife, who used to be his student....yeah, I know, creepy).
Evgeni counts him as one of the most important people to him, and says "I need him everyday at every practice, without him I would be maybe no one".
Evgeni's quotes again;
"When I just come to St. Petersburg, he took care of me like I was his own son. Alexei Nikolaevich was very kind to me, he helped me with everything - he was a second father to me. We communicate not only on the ice, together we play tennis, billiards, go bowling, often we meet up in the evenings. He is a very good coach and a very, very good, nice person. He helps me with everything not only at practice but also in life. He is advising me what is better and what is not good, simply at everything he helps me, without him, I don't know, I would be nothing." "He fed me when I had nothing to eat, gave me money. We've always been together. He took me with him to competitions."

And there is an happy ending to this story, after he became Junior world champion in 1997, he brought the prize money straight to his family. After he came to Senior level competitions, he started to get invited to ice shows, and to gather substantial prize money from competitions. This made it possible for him to send for his father and sister to live in St Petersburg together. He made his parents stop working when he became 17, and started to earn money for the family. He still skates to support his parents and sister's family. :)
SKATE, BB PLUSH, SKATE!

When he came to St Petersburg at age 11 he could land all 6 triple jumps (What. The. Fuck. OMG) but his jumping technique only became consistent and perfected under Mishin. His teammates remember him as such; "Evgeni did whatever Mishin told him. He never complained. He had everything: Jumps, presentation, spins. And he was an extremely hard worker. He would do hundreds of triple jumps in practice and try more difficult quads and continue to push himself as far as he can."
After a few years of training with Mishin, his 6 triples were perfected when he was 12, and he landed his first quad toe loop when he was 14. Mishin would say "all his past pupils are either good at techniques, or at artistry. Except Plushenko. He has limitless talent in both."
Of course, he could do Biellman. Biellman spin was something Evgeni wanted to do when he was young in Volgograd, after he saw girls doing it. His mother would bend him in Biellman position every day until he got it right, and he became the first male skater to perform Biellman spin and spiral in junior and senior competitions. Of course he kept that when he came to St. Peterburg, and Alexei Mishin remembers that "The others picked on him in practice and made him cry every day. He would do his Biellmann, and they'd bop him on the forehead with their fingers and tell him to stop. The other skaters were jealous of him."

In 1996, Evgeni started to participate in competitions.

Then in 1997 he became the youngest men's Junior World champion.

and bronze in senior World Championship 1998 (He was not old enough to compete in the Worlds but ISU gave him permission to be there as a substitute because he was last season's Junior champion. Then Kulik withdrew, so He got to skate...)

IN 1999-2000, HE WON EVERY COMPETITION WHICH HE ENTERED, WAS TWO-TIMES RUSSIAN CHAMPION AND THE EUROPEAN CHAMPION, EXCEPT THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WHERE HE WAS 4TH. THAT WAS THE LAST TIME WHEN PLUSHY PERFORMED BOTH SP AND LP IN A COMPETITION AND GOT ANYTHING BELOW SILVER. HE PERFORMED MARVELOUSLY IN SP BUT MESSED UP HIS LP, POOR BB.
1999 NHK TROPHY GALA ENCORE. I'M TORN BETWEEN 'OMG SO PRESH' AND 'WTF R U DOING DUDE'. HE WAS ALREADY GETTING SILLY IN HIS GALAS <3 AND NOT A JAILBAIT BECAUSE HE WAS 17 AND THAT'S LEGAL IN UK!! WOOOOT!!

HIS FAILURE TO STAND ON THE PODIUM FOR 2000 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS MADE HIM REALISE THAT "My expectations weren't right for the free skate, I was already thinking of about what I was going to get if I win, I was already thinking about the Gold medal. Maybe that wasn't right. I was thinking too much about winning.".
SO HE REALISED THAT THE WAY WAS TO NOT CARE TOO MUCH ABOUT WINNING AND CONCENTRATING ON SKATING HIMSELF (obligatory O RLY PLUSHY inserted here), AND HE CAME BACK TO THE NEXT SEASON, WHICH WAS PROBABLY HIS BEST SEASON SINCE HE STARTED SKATING.
IN 2000-2001 SEASON, HE SKATED TO 1 SP, 2 LP, AND 2 EX PROGRAMS, AND HE BECAME 3-TIMES RUSSIAN CHAMPION, 2-TIMES EUROPEAN CHAMIPION, GRAND PRIX FINAL CHAMPION, 3 GRAND PRIX CUPS CHAMPION, AND FINALLY THE WORLD CHAMPION, AT AGE 18.
BECAUSE I CAN NEVER GET TIRED OF THAT BIELLMAN.

SALT LAKE 2002 WAS APPROACHING, AND AFTER YEARS OF SKATING COMPETITIVELY, 18 YEARS OLD PLUSHY STARTED TO GATHER INJURIES, AND 2001-2002 SEASON WAS A VERY TROUBLING ONE. HIS KNEE INJURIES WHICH IS TROUBLING HIM EVEN NOW STARTED TO SHOW FROM THIS SEASON, HIS OTHER PROBLEMS SUCH AS GROIN AND BACK INJURIES STARTED TO SHOW, AND HE GOT AN ANKLE INJURY FOR THAT SEASON.
SERIOUSLY, IF YOU THINK VANCOUVER 2010 SP'S ARANJUEZ WAS A BAD MUSIC CHOICE, WATCH THIS. OMG. THAT MUSIC. I BET LATE MICHAEL JACKSON WOULD HAVE CRINGED IF HE SAW THIS. I DIE FROM SECONDHAND EMBARRASSMENT. AND PLUSHY, HONEY, YOU CAN WEAR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO IN EXHIBITIONS, BUT WHAT. IS. THAT. THING. ON. YOU. OMG HE REALLY LIKES SPARKLY GOLDEN BOYTOY. HIS ORIGINAL LP PROGRAM FOR 2001-2002 SEASON, AT GRAND PRIX FINAL. GLAD THAT HE CHANGED IT TO CARMEN FOR THE OLYMPICS? I AM.
HIS RIVAL YAGUDIN (AWWW YAGS <3) HAS GOTTEN OVER HIS CONTINUED LOSS TO PLUSHY IN 2000-2001 SEASON, AND CAUGHT UP WITH HIM IN GRAND PRIX FINAL TO GET HIS GOLD. WHILE PLUSHY WAS THE RUSSIAN CHAMPION THAT SEASON, AND CHANGED HIS LP PROGRAM FROM 'STORY OF AN ARTIST' TO 'CARMEN', HE HAD TO WITHDRAW FROM EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP BECAUSE OF INJURIES.
THEN THE OLYMPICS TOOK PLACE.
IT'S SUCH A SHAME THAT HE DOES HIS BEST AND PUTS ON A WONDERFUL PERFORMANCE EVEN THOUGH HE FALLS THAT QUAD...BUT WHEN HE FELL HE PROBABLY KNEW THAT HE'D NEVER WIN GOLD.
WHICH MAKES IT EVEN MORE AMAZING THAT HE TRIED TO DO A 4T-3T-3L HERE IN HIS LP, AND GIVES AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE. HE STEPS OUT OF THE LAST JUMP, BUT OMG. ISN'T HE AMAZING? JUST 19 YEARS OLD, AND ALREADY A GQMF.
THE BITCHFACE OF BB PLUSH, AS HE WATCHES YAGS ROCKING OUT ON 'MAN IN THE IRON MASK'. IT'S HIS TEENAGE BITCHFACE AT ITS BEST. ENJOY. AS SOMEONE SAID BEFORE, HIS BITCHFACE WAS NOT PERFECT, HE SEEMS LIKE HE IS TRYING NOT TO CRY :P
YAGUDIN WON GOLD MEDAL IN SALT LAKE CITY. HE DESERVED IT, LYOSHA WAS AMAZING THERE. BUT SO WAS PLUSHY. WITH AN OLYMPIC SILVER MEDAL AT HIS FIRST TRY, AT AGE 19, PLUSHY HAD A REASON TO GO ON, TO TRY FOR THE NEXT OLYMPICS.
SALT LAKE CITY OLYMPICS WAS, REALLY, THE END OF HIS 'BB DAYS'. AFTER 2001-2002 SEASON, THE BOY GENIUS WOULD BE REPLACED BY THE KING.
HE WOULD SKATE FOR 4 MORE SEASON, INCLUDING SOME OF HIS MOST LEGENDARY PROGRAMS, WIN AN UNDISPUTABLE GOLD IN TORINO 2006 OLYMPICS, THEN WOULD RETIRE...
...AND COME BACK FOR 2009-2010 SEASON, BECAUSE HE WANTED TO COMPETE AGAIN, AND MAYBE WIN ANOTHER OLYMPIC MEDAL. AND HE DID - A PLATINUM SILVER IN VANCOUVER 2010.
HE IS ONE OF 9 PEOPLE IN HISTORY TO OWN 3 CONSECUTIVE OLYMPIC MEDALS IN FIGURE SKATING, AND IF YOU EXCLUDE PEOPLE WHO WERE PAIR SKATERS OR SWAPPED TO PAIRS ALONG THE WAY THE LIST IS EVEN SMALLER, HE IS THE ONE OF ONLY THREE SINGLES SKATER TO HAVE AT LEAST 3 CONSECUTIVE OLYMPIC MEDALS.
IF HE COMES TO SOCHI AS AN ATHLETE (WHICH I DOUBT BUT I CAN LIVE IN DELUSIONS), I'D DIE OF JOY. HE'S MY FAVOURITE SKATER, AND HE WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVOURITE SKATER. NOT ONLY IS HIS LIFE ~INSPIRATIONAL~ BUT HE IS AN AMAZING GQMF, A PEERLESS ATHLETE, AND PROBABLY ONE OF THE GREATEST FIGURE SKATERS OF THE WORLD, W/E W/E HATERS TO THE LEFT.

OK I promised this post to bitches on Twitter 2 days ago but IDK I'm lazy and easily distracted, and the material I'm going to cover is HUGE. Like, SRS BSN HUGE.
From the recent Plushy watchparty we had a few days ago, (btw the playlist is still here, do watch it if you've missed the party, especially if you guys have only seen his programs this season, because as much as I love him 09-10 season wasn't his best one D: ....yeah I'm calling the first season after 3 seasons which got him 3 golds and 1 silver a bad one :P Plushy is just FIERCE like that.)
I realised that some Plushy stan bitches on this comm do not know much about Plushy's past. It is a real shame, because one of the reason why I stan Plushy is because his life story is actually, you know, one which makes you go awwwwww and omg, and puts you on an emotional rollercoaster from D: to :'( to :')
So I thought, WTH, I think all of you lovely bitches deserve to know his childhood, even when you guys don't really stan him that much. :P I'll try to make the post less boring by luring you with jailbait Plushy pics/vids. OK BBS?
I'm going to tell you the story of how our lovable Russian Overlord became the BAMF that he is now.
This post is going to be a copy-pasting of important bits and adding random pics and vids summary of this article, my memory of some other interviews, and deciphering of google translation of his Russian autobiography, in bits where the two sources conflict each other. I won't inflict the entire article on you bitches because, you know, long article is long~ oh btw teruhiko deserves the Internet for giving us that Plushy picspam now I have more fapping pics than ever)
TEH BEGINNING

Evgeni was born in November 3rd, 1982 in Solnechni, Khabarovsk region in the Russian far east (for geographically illiterate, here), He calls his birthplace also "BAM" (Baikal-Amur Mainline railroad). He lived next to the railroad, in what was barely a village, simply one of the clusters of homes his father helped build. His parents worked for the railroad.

Zhenya (Zhenya is the Russian short name for Evgeni) was a very ill child and the temperatures, where often very cold, caused him to develop a chronic cough and he spent three months in the hospital with double-side pneumonia. As a result his parents decided to move to another city where Zhenya could have a better climate and grow healthy, they moved to Volgograd (formerly Stalingrad). (which is here)
Then his parents decided that Evgeni should do some sports, to become healthier. They taught him how to ski, they bought him a bicycle and made him train at home with a ladder, an horizontal bar and a swing. But most importantly, they got him doing dancing, and skating.

Evgeni's mother recalls the moment when Evgeni first got his skates which was TOTALLY AN ACCIDENT.
"Everything began with a present. As we where for a walk with Evgeni, we met an aquaintance who brought her daughter at home, the girl cried because she didn't wanted to skate anymore. My aquaintance saw Zhenya and asked him if he wants the skates. Zhenya said yes. "Ok, take them" and she gave him the skates of her daughter. "Everything happend totally by accident. In our family there is no sports traditions, no one of us ever did sports. Everything was just a coincidence."

Then Evgeni ended up excelling in both ballet dancing and figure skating. His dance coach asked to quite skating, and his skating coach asked to quit dancing...so his mama asked him what he wanted to do.
I don't think I need to tell you bitches which one he chose.
Evgeni started skating when he was 4 and two months old, and was trained at frist by Tatiana Skala, then by a former weightlifter, Mikhail Makoveyev. He trained Evgeni for seven years (1986-1993) and in those seven years, he taught him a lot.

At 1993, the rink where he skated was closed and it became an auto repair facility. His mom thought that that was the end of figure skating, but Evgeni thought another thing. He wanted to go to St. Petersburg or Moscow to train but his mom told him that they did not have any money for that.
However, his coach Mikhail Makoveyev saw potential to become a great skater in Evgeni, so he sent him to St. Petersburg to be coached by Alexei Nickolaevich Mishin, who was already famous as a coach of many top-class Russian skaters.

Hardcore Yags stans might cringe/shudder at his name. Well, this isn't a Yags post and to be brutally honest, what happened between Yags and Mishin wasn't Plushy's fault (except his existance, perhaps) so no hating and let's move on.
In order to have a first class training with Mishin, he had to live 1,000 miles away from home, to live by his own in the city of St. Petersburg at 11 years old.
ST. PETERSBURG

Even when he grew up, Evgeni is not very willing to talk about the first year of living in St. Petersburg. As he said, "I am trying to forget this time in my life now."
"I was little, I was afraid to be lost, I missed my parents. For the first time it was very hard, I had to go a lot from one part of the city to another by train."
He left his family, his home, his friends, everything, in order to pursue his dream. He left with his coach in a train, 1000 miles away, to meet Alexei Mishin. At first he lived with his former coach but that did not last that long...
...so with only 11 years of age, he was all alone in the city.
Evgeni had to live by his own for one year, his mom was supposed to live there with him, but when she arrived to St. Petersburg, she could not find a job there and the family needed the income from his mother and father in order that Evgeni could keep his training and live in St. Petersburg, so she had to come back to Volgograd.
Another one from a quote by Evgeni; "My father tried to feed the family, and still there was not enough money. My mother had to take a hellish job - she had to cover streets with asphalt."
Evgeni lived alone, fed himself, would skip his new school in St Petersburg where he was bullied for being a girly figure skater, and walk around in the streets aimlessly. The only thing he attended every day passionately was his practices.
When Alexei Mishin accepted Evgeni, he already thought that Evgeni was very talented. However, at that point Mishin was preoccupied with his other pupil, especially Alexei Urmanov, the 1994 Olympics champion, and did not have enough time for young skater such as Evgeni unless he was noticably excelling.
Evgeni did not have friends in the ice rink, because he was the new one, and because he was the youngest one. He wanted to get along, but in fact he would be bullied and beaten for years by older skaters (no Plushy didn't drop any names in his autobiography. Except Yagudin *rolls eyes*. Suffice to say that when he became older he thanked them for making him stronger, and says such violence or bullying will never happen between St Petersburg's skaters as long as he skates. Awww Plushy <3) until he really became Mishin's favourite and actually started to win competitions.

There were times when Evgeni's mother would beg him to come back, but he did not turn back, because he still wanted to skate. So Evgeni remained alone in St. Petersburg, until his mother could not let him be alone any longer, and came to live with him. His father stayed in Volgograd, because he had to earn money to feed his family, including Evgeni's sister, Helena.
When his mother came to live with him in St. Petersburg, that was right after the Soviet Union's collapse. It was extremely expensive to live in St. Petersburg and his mother could not get a job there because of high unemployment. In those days coaching with funded by the state so Evgeni did not have to pay to be coached, but they could not afford to live in St Petersburg with little money Evgeni's father sent from Volgograd.
Evgeni and his mother lived in an apartment where they shared with five entire families and other people. It was a very cheap place, found for them by Mishin. Still, that little money they paid for was extremely hard on them, and Evgeni would go to the street after practices and collect empty bottles, to exchange them with bread, and share an apple with his mother for breakfast and go to morning practice, while his mother would go out to collect more bottles.
Of course, Alexei Mishin and other people in his coaching staff tried to help them. Mishin would sometimes give them money if they could not get money even from collecting bottles, and after Mishin found out about that their living condition wasn't improving at all, he made Evgeni to stay with him and to be fed properly, and found a new place for Evgeni and his mother to live together, partially paying for his expenses.
Evgeni would stick to his coach, Mishin, like a baby. He always said, and still says that Mishin treats him as a son, and to Mishin, Evgeni became more than his student. Evgeni has become his favourite pupil, and to this day he thinks Evgeni as his other son (he has twin sons with his wife, who used to be his student....yeah, I know, creepy).
Evgeni counts him as one of the most important people to him, and says "I need him everyday at every practice, without him I would be maybe no one".
Evgeni's quotes again;
"When I just come to St. Petersburg, he took care of me like I was his own son. Alexei Nikolaevich was very kind to me, he helped me with everything - he was a second father to me. We communicate not only on the ice, together we play tennis, billiards, go bowling, often we meet up in the evenings. He is a very good coach and a very, very good, nice person. He helps me with everything not only at practice but also in life. He is advising me what is better and what is not good, simply at everything he helps me, without him, I don't know, I would be nothing." "He fed me when I had nothing to eat, gave me money. We've always been together. He took me with him to competitions."

And there is an happy ending to this story, after he became Junior world champion in 1997, he brought the prize money straight to his family. After he came to Senior level competitions, he started to get invited to ice shows, and to gather substantial prize money from competitions. This made it possible for him to send for his father and sister to live in St Petersburg together. He made his parents stop working when he became 17, and started to earn money for the family. He still skates to support his parents and sister's family. :)
SKATE, BB PLUSH, SKATE!

When he came to St Petersburg at age 11 he could land all 6 triple jumps (What. The. Fuck. OMG) but his jumping technique only became consistent and perfected under Mishin. His teammates remember him as such; "Evgeni did whatever Mishin told him. He never complained. He had everything: Jumps, presentation, spins. And he was an extremely hard worker. He would do hundreds of triple jumps in practice and try more difficult quads and continue to push himself as far as he can."
After a few years of training with Mishin, his 6 triples were perfected when he was 12, and he landed his first quad toe loop when he was 14. Mishin would say "all his past pupils are either good at techniques, or at artistry. Except Plushenko. He has limitless talent in both."
Of course, he could do Biellman. Biellman spin was something Evgeni wanted to do when he was young in Volgograd, after he saw girls doing it. His mother would bend him in Biellman position every day until he got it right, and he became the first male skater to perform Biellman spin and spiral in junior and senior competitions. Of course he kept that when he came to St. Peterburg, and Alexei Mishin remembers that "The others picked on him in practice and made him cry every day. He would do his Biellmann, and they'd bop him on the forehead with their fingers and tell him to stop. The other skaters were jealous of him."

In 1996, Evgeni started to participate in competitions.

HIS KNEE INJURIES WHICH IS TROUBLING HIM EVEN NOW STARTED TO SHOW FROM THIS SEASON, HIS OTHER PROBLEMS SUCH AS GROIN AND BACK INJURIES STARTED TO SHOW, AND HE GOT AN ANKLE INJURY FOR THAT SEASON.
SERIOUSLY, IF YOU THINK VANCOUVER 2010 SP'S ARANJUEZ WAS A BAD MUSIC CHOICE, WATCH THIS. OMG. THAT MUSIC. I BET LATE MICHAEL JACKSON WOULD HAVE CRINGED IF HE SAW THIS. HIS RIVAL YAGUDIN (AWWW YAGS <3) HAS GOTTEN OVER HIS CONTINUED LOSS TO PLUSHY IN 2000-2001 SEASON, AND CAUGHT UP WITH HIM IN GRAND PRIX FINAL TO GET HIS GOLD. WHILE PLUSHY WAS THE RUSSIAN CHAMPION THAT SEASON, AND CHANGED HIS LP PROGRAM FROM 'STORY OF AN ARTIST' TO 'CARMEN', HE HAD TO WITHDRAW FROM EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP BECAUSE OF INJURIES.
THEN THE OLYMPICS TOOK PLACE.
IT'S SUCH A SHAME THAT HE DOES HIS BEST AND PUTS ON A WONDERFUL PERFORMANCE EVEN THOUGH HE FALLS THAT QUAD...BUT WHEN HE FELL HE PROBABLY KNEW THAT HE'D NEVER WIN GOLD.
WHICH MAKES IT EVEN MORE AMAZING THAT HE TRIED TO DO A 4T-3T-3L HERE IN HIS LP, AND GIVES AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE. HE STEPS OUT OF THE LAST JUMP, BUT OMG. ISN'T HE AMAZING? JUST 19 YEARS OLD, AND ALREADY A GQMF.

SALT LAKE CITY OLYMPICS WAS, REALLY, THE END OF HIS 'BB DAYS'. AFTER 2001-2002 SEASON, THE BOY GENIUS WOULD BE REPLACED BY THE KING.
HE WOULD SKATE FOR 4 MORE SEASON, INCLUDING SOME OF HIS MOST LEGENDARY PROGRAMS, WIN AN UNDISPUTABLE GOLD IN TORINO 2006 OLYMPICS, THEN WOULD RETIRE...
...AND COME BACK FOR 2009-2010 SEASON, BECAUSE HE WANTED TO COMPETE AGAIN, AND MAYBE WIN ANOTHER OLYMPIC MEDAL. AND HE DID - A PLATINUM SILVER IN VANCOUVER 2010.
HE IS ONE OF 9 PEOPLE IN HISTORY TO OWN 3 CONSECUTIVE OLYMPIC MEDALS IN FIGURE SKATING, AND IF YOU EXCLUDE PEOPLE WHO WERE PAIR SKATERS OR SWAPPED TO PAIRS ALONG THE WAY THE LIST IS EVEN SMALLER, HE IS THE ONE OF ONLY THREE SINGLES SKATER TO HAVE AT LEAST 3 CONSECUTIVE OLYMPIC MEDALS.
IF HE COMES TO SOCHI AS AN ATHLETE (WHICH I DOUBT BUT I CAN LIVE IN DELUSIONS), I'D DIE OF JOY. HE'S MY FAVOURITE SKATER, AND HE WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVOURITE SKATER.
