WHO: Hijikata Toshizou, Kristoph Gavin, Reborn, any of the other Vescovo higher-ups who might wander by WHAT: Hijikata and Kris discuss WHERE: Vescovo Main Compound, Main Residence, Hijikata's Personal Den WHEN: Night, Day 90
On the contrary, Kristoph had rather been looking forward to his discussing with Hijikata. He was ready to tell the man that Sam was utterly incapable of murder despite his high position in the family. and was curious about how Hijikata managed to treat Ciel like he was five years old. The son of the Don, really. So easily manipulated and of course, he had to be able to manipulate him to make him worth Kristoph's while. Hijikata's hounding would simply not do. And of course, the threat of the joker remained.
He was looking even more pristine than usual as he walked in and sat down across from Hijikata. He smiled and bowed his head a little, then brushed a strand of hair behind his ear and pushed his glasses up his nose. "Good evening, Toshizou." He said. "Isn't the weather wonderful outside?"
Hijikata raised an eyebrow at the familiar voice Kristoph was using, but showed no other sign of feeling at his arrival. He nodded politely at Kristoph's question, answering, "It is, in fact, a lovely night. Duty, however, keeps me from enjoying it. There will be many such evenings in the future, but only one Vescovo." His tone was light, but it was not a tone that ever, if even it could, implied casual conversation.
"It is unfortunate that we can not have these sorts of comings and goings on the veranda outside, mmm." He glanced outside, his expression feigning sadness. "But I suppose there are reasons for that. Security is of the utmost importance, especially during these trying times."
He turned back to Hijikata and leaned back in his chair, his expression becoming just slightly more serious. "This joker fellow has managed to make quite an impression on everyone, hasn't he?"
A sneer formed on Hijikata's lips unbidden at the mention of the Joker. "He only makes an impression where we allow him to make an impression," he said slowly, succinctly. "He's only made such a stir because we've let him make such a stir. He needs to simply be removed."
He drummed his fingers a few times along the arm of his chair and pursed his lips.
"Perhaps someone has news on him for me," Hijikata said, looking at Kristoph as he said this, though he made no inflection upon his voice. "I do not believe he can be taken care of quickly enough. The longer he persists, the more people fall into his trap, which is precisely what he wants. Only lunatics and those who truly desire nothing but madness make themselves so well-known."
Their family was picking sides and in a jumble of alligences, and it all took one man to do it. The Joker needed to be stopped and if he had his way he would have been out there hunting, but Hijikata and left a message on his phone to come talk to him about the Joker. Walking in, Reborn took off his fedora, his partner Leon crawled on his shoulder looking lazily to those in the room.
"Ciaossu." Was all he gave in the way of a greeting to Hijikata and Kris as he bowed his head. Once the greeting was over the hat went back on his head and Reborn stood there quietly, his face a blank slate.
"Good evening," Hijikata said in response to his capo. "Please sit," he continued, gesturing to one of the empty chairs in front of him. "We were just discussing the Joker situation."
He took a short sip of the coffee mug next to him, then turned back to Kristoph.
"I agree with you, Mr. Gavin. There is no way to stop this man other than death. Though the young Mr. Winchester may find himself rather unhappy if he can't kill a couple low-lives. At least he wasn't asked to kill someone's mother."
"Hello, Mr. Vongola." He offered a smile devoid of anything vaguely resembling warmth. Though it had been set aside for now, Kristoph had not forgotten Reborn's insinuations against him. It had just been bumped down a couple of notches on his to-do. He turned back to Hijikata. "That may, unfortunately, end up being the case. Though we all sometimes have to do things we do not want to do, I unfortunately do expect to see a church explode in a couple of days."
Looking to Kristoph he just merely nodded as he took a seat. There were more important things than a grudge between Kris and himself. If they were going to be able to continue their grudge, they were going to have to protect what it was over and that was the Vescovo family.
"I agree with Kristoph. In a few days regaurdless of the casualties on either side, I believe that this man will blow up the church even if he gets what he wants."
Folding his arms over his chest, Reborn sighed his eyes shutting, "Also I think it needs to be addressed that there is a little break in the line of command in the Vescovo. This shows that we are not at all united if it takes a small threat such as this to really break the family up."
During the summer before leaving Reggio Calabria three years ago, there were things that Ciel Vescovo had learned, for once, that did not come out of a text book.
The young Miss Kuchiki, a new addition to their extended family, had been more than happy to show the prince in name and rank the tricks learned from years on the streets.
From picking locks, to the slight of hand necessary to slide in and out of someone's pocket undetected, he had mastered them all in that short, blissful summer of a surprising friendship.
The way he allowed the weight of his small body to land on the balls of his feet, soundlessly, and the shuttering of his breath inside his mouth, was particularly useful: it afforded him the distance and silence he needed to listen in, completely undetected.
His own conversation had been done with the men who had stayed and followed his orders, and now, another meeting, one he had been unaware of, was taking place, and all here within the manor.
It was almost insulting, in Ciel's young mind, that it took place under

"So then we are all in agreement?" Standing up Reborn turned and stretched as he sighed, "Then I will get my people on it." Squalo and Tizziano were his friends and almost like a pair of children. All the soldati were that to him though because of how much of a hand he had in helping with all of them

Hijikata listened calmly through Kristoph's speech, and raised an eyebrow during Reborn's accusation. When the other man was done speaking, he began

Kristoph made a couple of shuffles in his internal list of things to do, his expression listening intently. He nodded and made a note to talk to the Don about Ciel and Hijikata after he finished his paperwork for today. It was just a matter of getting things organized, after all. Allowing pieces to fall into their proper places

Looking to Hijikata, Reborn eyes had a spark of something. Controlling Ceil was an issue that even Reborn was worried about at the moment. It wasn't something they could afford. "I actually disagree with you Kristoph." One of the many disagreements he had with the man. "I think Hijikata is the right man for the position. He's knows what he is looking for
