Being like usual, when Ciel called, Reborn jumped to it because he was worried about the boy. Although it never showed on his face or in his actions, Reborn still remembered the little boy Ciel had been when he had grown up in the house with Reborn.

"Ciel. I was hoping to meet with you under better circumstances." He wanted to hug the sick looking boy, but there would be time for cuddling his little surrogate brother. Reaching out he did touch the edge of the desk as he sighed slightly, "Is mother....Never mind I'll ask later."

No time for sentiments. This is time for action.

A phone-call delayed Kristoph far longer than he would have liked, over something as meaningless as bad eggs and for Ciel this was inexcusable. Yet it had taken him an additional twenty extra minutes to sort out of the problem, and he'd walked to the manor. He lived fairly close, after all, and it was much safer and much more timely than checking his car for a bomb.

And so, he did arrive, cool and confident, and stepped through the doors. Ciel looked in poor health, anxious and afraid, and part of him felt a little bad for the child and everything he had already assumed upon his shoulders. Oh well, he thought fondly to himself, he'll need advice. He'll need guidance.

His eyes flicked to Reborn and he smiled, warm and welcoming. "I"m glad to see you're safe, Mr. Vongola," he said, striding past him with purpose.

He bowed low to Ciel and stood behind him, his voice relaxing. "A thousand apologies for my lateness. I did not expect to be held up by some minor errand from one of my restaurants. How can I help?"

Franky came in wearing jeans, work boots and a Flam Construction Polo shirt.

He'd been on a job site going over the work for the 60% inspection, but now meant now when it came from Ciel. He hadn't heard the joker's message yet, made a point not to check the community in the morning or he'd show up to work late.

"Here, Sir" He came in and took of his hard hat.

The boy is standing by the time Franky has entered, eyes glancing over the three men, taking note of their promptness, the serious demeanor in which they had answered his call. He commits their faces and loyalty to memory, taking a deep breath as he closes the laptop sitting on his desk.

There is no humour on his face, expression tight lipped, skin pallid.

"You may return home, gentleman." His voice is smooth, the sickness gone for the moment as he makes his way around the enormous desk.

"Mister Hijikata has declared any and all of my orders null and void." He lets his light eyes settle on Kristoph Gavin. "I, presumably, am going to step back, allowing him control of family matters."

But there is an anger, a fury, bubbling under the boy's sallow skin, that comes across in the slightest of smiles tugging at the corners of his small mouth. It suggest that something else is happening in the boy's mind, a clicking of porcelain pawns, knights and rooks, perhaps.

Franky's face betrayed him. He never took confusion like this well, even if he obeyed the orders to the letter.

It didn't make things any better as his blackberry suddenly went off with an email from the company.

"Project on the Abingdon School Building halted, major accident on site. Load of 45' steel I-beams dropped off the crane and landed on the Flam Construction Trailer. City has to investigate, three casualties"

Franky made an even better face.

"Not going back to my place, that's for sure. When's Hijikata giving out the new orders, Sir?"

Syaoran could almost sense tension as he silently turned the doorknob to Ciel's office. He entered just like a ghost would, but immediately stopped when he saw the face that his closest relative in that room was making.

"Sorry to interrupt," he said quickly, and bowed back out, starting to close the door behind him. He stood off to the side of the door. He didn't care if Ciel was angry, he still wanted to talk to him.

It had been seven years since they'd even seen each other.
