Being angry at him for leaving like that would have been stupid-she had pulled the same exact thing too many times to count, and she would've been a hypocrite to get mad over it. She wasn't even mad at him for pushing himself past his limit even when he knew he shouldn't have. In fact, she wasn't mad at him at all. More mad at herself for caring that he'd left and that he'd pushed his limit and mad at herself for not being mad at him. It was a tricky thing to deal with, but she knew she was more than capable of doing so.

What she wasn't capable of was figuring out just why his apology for doing all that shit stung more than it appeased. But a little below the surface, she knew it hadn't been just an apology to her, and if there was one thing constant about the Al Bhed it was that she was a possessive, jealous creature at times and had never been the best at sharing. But she forced herself to see that he wasn't hers to share, that she had no claim, that they were just business partners, and so she told herself she was over it because ( ... )

"If your funerals are like that, I wonder how wild your parties are."

The guild had never been much for funerals. Those who passed, passed. They were either too old, too weak, too stupid, or, on rare occasion, unlucky. In any case, the guild had always been cutthroat-- survival of the fittest. Of course, X had never had someone he really cared about enough to mourn. Well. Until now, at least.

Really, he supposed, he didn't really realize how much he cared about all of them until he was running away from them, trying to avoid contacting them no matter how bad it got because he wanted to keep them safe. Thankfully, for now, though, they were safe, and, mushy as it sounded-- which was why he wouldn't ever say it aloud-- he was going to treasure them all the more now that he knew just how easily the world could come crashing down around his ears.

Another smile flicked over her face, and she let out an almost nostalgic sigh. How long had it been since she'd been to a real Al Bhed celebration? Too long; she knew it just as well as her father did, though he seemed to forget less easily than her. "They're the best ever." Not a lie-nobody partied like her people. They appreciated life for what it was, and were firm believers that the present was all that mattered-the past was the past, and the future had all the time in the world to be decided. Living for the moment was tradition, one she planned to uphold until the day she died ( ... )

It must've been nice, for her, to have that kind of a family. Admittedly, her people had suffered horribly for it, and there were times it must've been horrible. But at least they had each other. And now she was here for him in the same way. He wondered to himself a little as he listened to her soft sigh if she would trust him if their positions were reversed, if she was the one who was helpless, and him the potential caretaker. Even if he wasn't as good with the potions and stuff as she was... well, he hoped she would.

Laughing softly, X acquiesced to her pushing, but shrugged, not bothering to close his eyes or even hint at how sleepy he was-- or wasn't.

"But aren't we already on the bed? Unless you're suggesting we get under the covers."

He grinned playfully at her... happily. The sound of going out... getting fresh air. Spending a day with someone... it was... nice. First thing he really had to look forward to in a while.
