Roxas tended to hide his mess of hair under a hat whenever possible, given how infrequently he managed to really wash it... But it was quite warm that morning, with the sun beating down on him as if determined to brighten his mood. It wasn't going to work, not with that coward who called himself Axel refusing to give him any real information about his past.

He tensed slightly at the touch to his shoulder, curling ink-stained fingers briefly into fists, the last paper tucked under one arm.

"...Sora?"

It was a Roxas! This, this was proof that he totally knew what he was doing some of the time. Very infrequently. Only on alternate Tuesdays.

But still. It was a nice day, bright and sunny. Today would be good. It would not be filled with puking homeless and prostitutes wearing waaaaaaaay too much - shoot. He didn't answer the question.

"Yeah, I'm Sora. So you must be Roxas, right? Err, how much is the paper?"

He'd never actually bought a paper before. Being in the AMC mostly meant that he got updated on news pretty quick and it wasn't like he needed to be reminded how odd the world was - or how bad.

"Yeah, I'm Roxas... it's just one euro," he replied, offering the paper to the other boy. He was always ashamed of his appearance, most of all his hands, whenever he met someone new. Two years of being a morning paper-boy meant that the ink had thoroughly worked its way through the skin on his fingers and palms.

"Oh, uh . . ."

Sora dug through his pockets for the coin. It was . . . There! He pulled it out of his pocket and placed it in the boy's hand, taking the paper. He smiled brightly, not even noticing the stains on Roxas' hands. Sora tended not to notice certain things.

"Here you go."
