Jake caught sight of who he was looking for -- a good sparring partner? he could hope -- almost immediately, the warm-ups a dead giveaway.

"Heyla, chica!" he yelled, waving enthusiastically as he jogged the rest of the way over, not in the least tired. When he got to Kaede, he held out a hand, grinning. "Jacob Black, but you can call me Jake. Nice to meet you," he introduced, his trademark puppy-smile on his face.

At Jake's greeting, Kaede wrapped up what she was going and returned the handshake, obsering his expressions and body language as well as his lack of windedness. Not that she would have expected him to be after a short sprint like that when Monacello seemed to employ the type who would run themselves into the ground before they'd take a sick day.

She got the feeling Jake's boyish face was deceptively disarming.

"I'm Kaede," she replied, offering a smile of her own. She was used to hearing it pronounced all kinds of ways, anything from Katie to Cade, but when she spoke it was three short syllables. Ka-eh-deh. "But you can call me Ky."

It was certainly easier, in her opinion, than the Italian equivalent of Foglia D'acero. Leaf of Maple.

"So...what's the plan?"

Smiling boyishly again at Kaede's introduction, Jake replied, "Test out limits first, huh? I don't want to hurt you."

His eyes took a serious tone, went out of focus, came back in focus. "There isn't anyone around to hear for a couple blocks, but within the family? I'm not normal anymore." He shrugged. "Wasn't really a choice, but I don't mind so much. I just don't want to accidentally hurt anyone. Sparring gets me a bit excited."

Kaede's first impulse was to argue that she was a big girl, she knew how to evade and counter, but it would have sounded silly standing next to him. Especially when his eyes took on that faraway look, like he was listening for something, and he started talking about no one being close enough to overhear.

So Jake had a little shot of something extra too? It should have come as no surprise. "Okay," she said. She wasn't really in a big hurry to re-injure herself. "So we start out slow?"
