The main advantage of La Paz is that it is cooler, and thus she can get away with wearing pants to places she normally wouldn't. And in the cool nights of June, this means she can wear dress pants to Chifa Emy (with a suitably dressy blouse, naturally) instead of a cocktail dress. Cocktail dresses just aren't designed with hiding weapons in mind

At any rate, when he does show up, it's with apologies to the people at the door, and an immediate focus on finding Camille.

A smile at that (and a nod to the waiter when he sets her dessert down). But when she picks up the spoon, she catches sight of the ring.

She pauses.

And then, softly, she starts to laugh.

Slowly, he raises both eyebrows.

"Something amusing?"

"Yes."

Mmm, chocolate mousse.

"No plans to explain?"

And he's pretty sure he's just pushing his luck, here.

"Not really."

"Fair enough."

And now that that is settled, Camille is going to finish her desert.

Funnily enough, all her earlier ire has entirely vanished.

He wasn't particularly annoyed to start with, but it doesn't need to be said that he's in a good mood, now.
