Day 41

May 11, 2007 12:37

Wow, can't believe it's been 41 days and the only unhealthy thing I've had this whole time has been that pint of Guinness on Monday. Mmm, beer... anyway. I've been doing good. I think. I keep getting hungry at night. Not even hungry. Just... wanting to eat. Last night we had dinner at about 1850 and at 2010 I was wanting a bowl of porridge (oatmeal ( Read more... )

Yeah, 1600 isn't horrendous. I went further over than that one day last week. I just feel bad when I get a bad dot on my Sparkpeople report - though oddly not so bad if I'm under my calories! which rarely happens today but hey.

Running takes a while to build up. I think I'm managing to do this so quickly because of last year when I... well, actually, it was maybe three or four months last year when I ran. I started in May and quit due to injury and serious life issues in August, or around then. The thing with it is that it actually doesn't take a while to build up and that surprises me constantly. I know you're thinking of starting the C25K and I cannot recommend it enough. I don't think you should wait - though I don't know if you have shoes or not and I know buying them might be an issue right now, in which case you should wait. But you'll be stunned at your progress. Trust me, I own a bookstore.

I'll work on pics - but the light's always crappy and you can't see the colour so well. It needs to be a sunny day again!

Ah, yes! Sorry, I'd forgotten about that despite how you mention it quite often. Apologies!

That really is rubbish. Are inhalers expensive? *tuts* it's so unfair how you can't get something you need for your own health for free there. Especially when it means you're restricted to do other things.

The thing with running is that it doesn't necessarily have to have you gasping for breath. When I run, especially if I've been at it for ages, my breathing completely calms down and I could talk normally. This morning, I stopped and my breathing was completely normal. Though my legs were kinda 'hey, we might give up on you lol!' which was interesting. My face wasn't even red.

That said, if you're worried then don't do it. I think you could give it a shot, though, unless your asthma is really bad which it could well be.

Man I'm in a typey mood today.

congrats on keeping up a healthy living! and i'm jealous of your running, too. what's a lopsided core?

It's just my daft way of describing what's going on. I'm stronger on one side than the other - well, weaker on one side. So when I run, I work harder with one side to compensate for the weakness of the other. This leads to strain and serious injury - last year when it first happened I had to get some weird ultrasound therapy to repair the damage I'd done. I went to physio for months for my back and shoulders, which still aren't right, and it was just a big mess. I really need to get a strong core and I'm working on it. It's just difficult trying to get the weak side up to the level of the strong side when muscles in your back criss-cross from one side to another so you might feel pain on your right because of a problem in your left and it's tough to know what you should be making stronger!

That might be confusing. Sorry!

I have been having the same problem at night this week. I have been munching, not a lot, but after 8pm, and part of my original intention was not to eat past 8 pm. its bad, i know, but this week i haven't been able to overcome it.

last night i had 3 tablespoons of peanut butter at 10:30. How bad is that?!

The way I'm looking at it is hey, it could be worse. And it could be. I like how my comfort food is a bowl of porridge with a banana mushed in when maybe it used to be a wedge of toast with butter and marmalade or chocolate and crisps. Even if I'm eating at night, it's still healthy. And peanut butter is fatty, but it's also good for you, especially if you work out a lot.

So as bad as things are, they could be worse.

WOW what a great exercise week! Great job!

I know what you mean about 1600 cals, I did that last weekend and I felt uhg. It's not so bad, but still.

That's an amazing revelation; it really put things into perspective for me. I've been counting calories for 3? weeks now, and I barely remember any of my meals (except where I was bad!).
