029: [Action//Closed] Talk'til we're blue in the face?

Dec 28, 2009 21:28

[Priestly had told her he'd talk 'til he was blue in the face today so Inara had prepared for it. She'd taken a nap so that she wasn't completely exhausted. She'd dressed with particular care in a flattering sari that left one shoulder bare then cleaned up the apartment, even though honestly it was practically hermetically clean at this point. [Work had gone by quickly, an easy evening for the most part. Priestly wished he could stay there an extra, oh, week or so. But that would be cowardly. Not that there's anything really wrong with that, it's just...complicated. Which he hated fucking saying because that just meant he didn't want to think about it. Which he didn't. At all.

He might have taken his time on his way out of work to Inara's apartment. He also might have stood in front of the door for 10 minutes before finally knocking briskly and cracking it open.]

Hellooo? Priestly reporting for duty. With a yummy cobb salad and some broccoli and cheddar soup!

[Inara understands the cowardice. She's prone to run at anytime she feels she or someone she cares about might get hurt. She gets to her feet when he comes in the door, smiling a bit tensely at him. He gets close enough and she takes the bag with food in it from him, setting it on the table. She curls one arm around his neck and kisses his cheek.]

I saw Anna's memory.

[She doesn't think it needs any more explanation. He might be here for a 'talk' that might have uncertain outcome but that doesn't mean she's not going to attempt to comfort him over something she knows must have disturbed him. ]

[He looks away, because it's not like he can deny that it shook him up, especially not to Inara. Anna being not human wasn't really a big deal. He'd still like hanging with her, she was still Anna. But that guy, the one that looked like he would if he wasn't a freak? It was a little weird.]

Yeah...

[Priestly chews on the inside of his lip a little, stifling a yawn; maybe work hadn't been as easy as it felt while he was doing it.]

There's saltines in there too for the soup. Might settle your stomach a little.

[She nods, willing to let it go at that. If he wants to talk about it he will. At least he knows she's on 'his side' so to speak. She runs her hand over his shoulder and moves to the couch.]

Thank you. Come sit down. Have you eaten yet?
