if you look deeper into the comment threads, a lot of people strongly objected and questioned these bizarre statements. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many people responded, and that there seemed to be a thread of sanity woven in.

I get that there are crazy people in every group. That's all good. My beef's more with the moderators. The thing is that when someone writes something sane, it has a much less chance of making it through the censor. See, e.g. how many science and torah threads are locked. It's like there is no shame in allowing bigotry and idiocy, but if someone suggests OY that maybe evolution doesn't contradict maashe bereishis or that Rubashkin wasn't all totally 100% innocent, that is impermissible for the frum world to even consider.

None of these is too particularly outrageous compared to what I've seen. The worst are the ad hominem attacks or "I told you so" attacks such as "I told you that if you let your wife wear nail polish that this would happen, you got what you deserved you goy".
