Summary: A kinkmeme fill for this prompt: I'm desperately searching for some Esca/Seal Prince - fic! I imagine Seal Prince to want to get into Esca's pants. He's really obsessive about him. Therefore Esca's betrayal is so terrible for him...

So evocative! I love that you've managed to delve into the Prince's thoughts so effectively. It really puts his actions into perspective.

In truth, the reason this is in first person is that I had no idea what to call him. It's awkward to call him "Seal Prince" all the time ("Prince" might suffice, now I think of it) and I wasn't quite sure I wanted to go with the fanon use of his book!name this time. It was tricky, though, because a lot of his character is left up to the viewer's interpretation. I'm glad you liked it!

Yeah, names for anonymous canon characters are always tricky! What made you steer away from Liathan?

I agree that his character is left for the viewer to interpret. In fact, what had the most influence on my perception of him was Esca's heartfelt goodbye via the son.

Nothing really made me steer away, but... maybe it was just that it's SUCH a movieverse prompt?

I really picked up an unscripted relationship between them, not necessarily a romantic one, but certainly something in the way they spoke to each other. The body language, too. Plus the fact that he deliberately singles Esca out twice during the Dramatic Climax (TM).

I love this so much and I don't have the words to express just how much I love the intensity of it and how you picked up the emotion and that almost immediate obsession the Seal Prince has with Esca from the film and developed his side in a way that feels very right.

Thank youuuu! I got the impression that Esca and the Prince got pretty close, from the way they talk and their body language and all. (And I don't know why this is, but whenever a character uses another character's name, I flail. And the Prince uses Esca's name. TWICE~ *flail*)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that! I don't know whether it was intentional or not but that was certainly the undertone I got from the film.

Yes. It wasn't scripted as such, but the way they hung out (at the fire), the mutual relationship with the little boy, the way the prince singles him out in the Final Battle (TM)...

really great writing! I almost felt like I was surrounded by a nasty British winter, there at the beginning. Also, it really hadn't occurred to me before now that there would have been some sort of relationship between the two (and I've seen the movie kind of a lot at this point) but next viewing I'm definitely going to see one, whether the script intended it or not...
