I have yet to have a problem with any of my fellow building tenants. Until now. There's a new building resident who apparently likes silence as much as I do. Unlike me, he lets it be known to the whole building if things aren't silent enough for him ( Read more... )

Sounds like your tools aren't that loud and you should go right over his head and complain about HIM and his complaining to your landlord. Nip it in the bud, get the upper hand or you will be paralyzed and unable to feel like you can work on your projects. That's what I think at least. He chose to live in an APARTMENT, where OTHER PEOPLE LIVE TOO and there will always be some noise.

you cannot be evicted for making noises like that. especially before 11 pm.

check on the noise bylaws in your area. in mine i can make as much noise as i want (within reason ..no industrial noise makers) until 11pm. and mr tightass silence can shut up. call the police if he or the other crazy lunatic yells at you.

can we move you away now?

you can't be evicted for that - if anything, HE can probably be evicted for making a nuisance of himself and upsetting other people. You should check!

I don't think you can be evicted for that. I have a dremel and use it all the time in my crafty room, my husband says he can barely hear it outside of the room - so I know that it isn't very loud.
