i know nothing about paint, but i do know a thing or two about parsnips. i LOVE them. especially with carrots. i think they are sweeter than turnips, and i enjoy the texture more. i usually just toss them with olive oil and butter, salt and pepper and roast them in the oven. they are delicious simply prepared.

my teeth are starting to feel like i should do something about the fact that i haven't been to a dentist in almost ten years. oops. i just hardly ever have insurance, and now the state wants us to start paying for it again, so i don't know if we'll be able to keep it. i may pay it this month, just so i can go be tortured with shiny instruments. *shudder*

Ditto on the parsnips...sweeter and denser. They have their own magical flavor that nothing else has too.

Ditto also on trying to rub some other color into the crackle instead of stripping the whole thing...That is a ditto to the below comment! S

Sorry about the teeth, hang in there is all I can say:(

Could you take a picture of what you've made so I could suggest something? Also, what brand of crackle did you use and is the brown paint an oil or acrylic paint? I could offer some suggestions but would have to know those things first before risking ruining your box!

Try going to estate sales to find trinkets. You can often find costume jewelry cheaply priced.

Many photo places can make copies of photos from a print, even if you don't have the negative. No idea how much it costs, but it might be worth asking around. It would be so cool to see boxes made with Ana photos!

Parsnips look like white carrots, for reference - they're not round like turnips. If the recipe turns out well, will you post it? I've got some parsnips, turnips, and carrots languishing that I'd love to cook with. (I did put turnips into my miso soup last night, and they were delicious.)
