I made a mid-year resolution to start being more careful with my spending. I'm always plumb out of money by month's end. Before month's end, even. I don't like that. So I vowed a week or so ago that I am going to be more frugal. When one's income is what mine is, buying a soda is an extravagance (actually, I don't drink soda, but I do enjoy an ( Read more... )

If I recall, when you used to sell dyed ribbons they were much sought-after, weren't they? I say go for it and they will sell.

They were much sought-after when I priced them so low as to not make any money off of them (especially given the effort I put into them). If I priced them where I made a respectable profit, they just sat here.

Argh, that is so frustrating. I ran into the same problem when I used to try to sell my art projects. Is there some middle ground price you could set? Or price small orders higher but give a discount for larger orders?

Unfortunately, the software I use for the site doesn't allow you to do anything fancy when it comes to pricing like that. Well, not unless you want to pay an arm and both legs for add-ons.

Yeah. I just need to take the time and make the effort to learn how to use etsy. I'm probably the only crafter on Earth who doesn't know how to use etsy.

Make a simple brochure with a few pix of your purses... write a little paragraph or two and put your contact info on it. Drop them off at the shops, to the owner or a manager then call a week later to ask if they had a chance to look at it and to ask if you may come in with samples! Give it a try! :-)

Oh just had a thought... you might enjoy this yahoo group that I've belonged to for a long time... sometimes it sucks, a lot of the time it's good, but it's all about "simple" living and "making do" and such. There are a lot of soap makers and herbalists and people who like good wholesome food and ways of spending less. Well, check it out....
