Jongup startles so suddenly awake that he gasps.

He’s disoriented, and his heart is thudding madly in his chest even as he looks around. It’s still pitch black, and when he squints at the clock on the bedside table, four am becomes four oh one.

Jongup makes a sound, too tired to groan, and looks around again. But nothing seems out of the ordinary,
