To my great joy, volume 7 of Shadow Star finally dropped through my letterbox today.

No, no - it's really very perky. Here's the OP from the anime series to prove it.

(Much like Bokurano, it's very dark but strongly compelling to read.)

Considering what you've said along with the comments on that page, I'm a little concerned as to who their target audience is. That opening is perky and bouncy enough to pass for kids anime though the subject matter seems to be anything but. Guess the makers of Narutaru are out to screw that idiot Naruto fans who might fail in thinking it's a spin off!

IIRC the anime was actually shown on a children's channel(!)

(That girl who gets carried off towards the end? This is what for. And yes, I believe the anime kept that in.)
