D'aww! This makes excellent sense, that Chopper would have learnt something like that from Hiruluk and would thus have paid close attention to the colour of Robin's petals. ♥♥♥♥♥♥

Aaah look at the cute color-coded hearts! Eee!

I always thought that Robin and Chopper would have kind of a cute connection because of her petals (I too thought they were Sakura - but I learned it's never been confirmed and more people support the peach blossom theory) just because of the familiarity it would strike for him.
And I liked the idea of devil fruit users unconsciously losing control of their powers, like Buggy splitting apart when surprised or Chopper growing big when angry (even though those moments are played for laughs). Since Robin is a human flower basically, the thought of her wilting when in an extremely negative state was intriguing fun.
