Hmm… Swords.
It was rare to see them on their own. They were always attached to the swordsman; even in his sleep his fingers grasped towards them. But here they were, leaning up in the corner, gleaming in the sunlight while Zoro swam laps in the frigid Grand Line.
Sanji walked closer. They were each unique; they looked different, they had a different energy. He stretched his fingers out and hesitated, knowing that the act was taboo. Finally, he gave in. The fabric of the knots felt coarser than he expected.
This one is too special, this one is too blood thirsty… ah, perfect.
Slowly, Sanji drew the sword. It came out of its sheath as if oiled, with the whisper of perfectly sharp steel. He drew a breath and touched the cold blade. He held the sword out and felt its weight in his hand. He felt its delicate balance, the point where the centre of gravity shifts. It was lighter than he expected, it almost felt like a large kitchen knife…
He moved his body fluidly and let the blade copy him. He wasn’t as strong as Zoro but his movements were fast, precise. One, two and a kick that took him in a full turn… he stopped and snapped the blade out like a whip, moving with the momentum of the sweeping strike. The sword felt like an extension of his body, an echo of his powerful legs. The second time, the leg came first and the sword followed, whipping around in a deadly silver arc.
This is fun.
Finally he stopped, breathing a little faster. He put the sword back where it was and stood looking at the three together. It was amazing really that in all this time, he had never done it before.
“Oi, love-cook. What are you doing?” Zoro’s voice snapped Sanji out of his contemplation.
The cook turned and laughed at the baffled swordsman,
“You really don’t want to know.”
