[She falls asleep restlessly, and into a deep darkness. Disoriented, she almost thinks her eyes are closed before she realizes they're not.

A sharp hiss of breath comes as one of the ravens rushes her with enough force to push her backward several steps.

She is not afraid of the Darkness.]

Dark Power Make-Up!

[She uses it as much as she's tied to it. The impression of black rose petals that comes with her transformation becomes near-invisible in the blackness, but the current and splash of water is unmistakable. She reaches to touch her earring between her thumb and forefinger, and her visor slips into place over her eyes to help her orient herself. She lets it lock on the energy signals of her unseen attackers.]

[The darkness is deep, suffocating in a sense. He feels as though his heart and mind have been weighed down tremendously, blocking from from fighting against the two - friendsfamilyallies - monsters before him.

That's easily remedied, however, when someone *else* joins in on the fight. He spins around quickly, finding the source of the sudden disruption, a part of him being grateful for the assistance. At the same time, he just doesn't want to fight, knowing who these two... things used to be.

And where they were. He had to keep remembering who he was and where they were.

because this was just a hallucination they were in modeoheim had to be.]

Hey! Be careful!

[She doesn't know who they were; and if she did, she still wouldn't hesitate. She's had years with that as part of her mantra, years to learn not to back down, no matter who it is she faces.

She ignores his warning. As soon as her visor locks on the ravens (Ravens? When she wakes, she'll wonder if they were meant to be Phobos and Deimos, heralds of an angry Mars), she attacks.]

Dark Rhapsody!

[The rush of water is unmistakable. The harp's glissando threatens to disrupt the energies present even as the attack drives into the ravens, both birds at once.]

[Both ravens screech at the attack, but their bodies seem to simply melt back into the darkness which they came. In which Zack is able to take his own stand, moving closer to the woman while the monsters simply reform, squawking out those taunting words once more.]

"Liarliar!"

"Traitortraitor!"

"ShinRa! Death! Death to ShinRa!"

...so, got any bright ideas?

[Riku is hardly bothered by the darkness around him - he is used to places like this after all. The ravens are an entirely different story though, especially since he can barely sense them.

Quickly he summons Soul Eater to his hand as he concentrates on trying to distinguish the smell of the ravens from the surrounding darkness.]

[In Zack's dream? It's difficult to. The birds *are* this endless darkness, surrounding them with the impending threat of crushing them alive.

So all he can do is to fight, to survive. Endure every blow as if it were a direct attack on his consciousness itself.]

[He just barely manages to block the attacks - or at least some of them anyway - lips pressing together as he starts summoning up shields so that he can stop worrying about being attacked from one direction at least as he tries to defend the others.

Every blow that manages to break through wears on his heart though - if things continue like this he will have to start calling onto Ansem's powers.]

[The flash of several shields finally gets his attention, and he's able to glance over his shoulder at the other boy also trapped in this void.]

--wait, where'd you come from?

[The silver hair, at first glance, makes him automatically believe it to be the General. The body is too small, the powers too... unfamiliar. He doesn't even know if it's an ally, or another enemy trying to survive.]

Zack!

[he's late. Again. He's missed the battle and Zack's been hurt because he wasn't there to help. Again.

dammit! Why is he ALWAYS too late?

His sword is out and ready - but the world goes black. Crouching just the slightest bit, ears straining as they attempt to replace his eyesight, he calls again:]

Zack!

[it's the lack of Zack's answer that bothers him most and the arrival of the monster he watched attacking his friend doesn't help his mood at all. When it lunges, there's actually the smallest smirk that twists the edges of his lips.

He's not some scrawny teenager anymore, taken down by one blast from a summon. He's Cloud Strife and killing monsters is what he's best at. There's very little that clears his head so quickly or pulls up his desire to fight than a straightforward enemy.

The sword comes up, blocks, drives the creature back, slices. The blows themselves are hard and fast and blunt but the man wielding them is suddenly impossibly graceful on his feet, every trace of clunky, awkward lost boy gone. This is his element and he's fearless in it. And this time his call is a demand instead of a question.]

"Zack!"
