[As summer starts to peak, the beach is a great place to be, and it's bustling. Everything for a day of fun is here: nets for volleyball, plenty of people swimming or sunning themselves, kids chasing or running away from the waves, sand castles, and... a giant igloo

As soon as the crowd's even a little bit thinner, he's approaching. You... seem so familiar, but not. Maybe that's why he's here. Because you seem familiar.] Ummm... D-Don't you find it strange.. th-that there's an igloo on the beach?

Isn't it nice? A good chance to cool down!
[She will never in a thousand years admit just how strange it is. Especially when it doesn't seem to be melting at all.]

Y-yea. It's nice. [He's kinda dressed for the beach, too. Black and white shorts and a white shirt.] W-What are you reading, miss?

It's nothing. Just a book to pass the time.
[In short, a paperback novel, heavy on the romance. A very, very guilty pleasure.]

That's why this boy has set to work on digging himself a defensive trench, a fair distance from the shoreline. It's deep, given that he's only working with his hands - if he crouches down onto his knees, his head can duck completely below the surface. More than once, some innocent children of about his age tried to play in his trench, and were sent running and crying when they found a gun shoved in their face ( ... )

It's not until Ami finally dismisses her borrowed friends and heads towards the water herself that she happens to see the surprisingly developed trench. She changes direction and heads that way with measured steps before her feet come to a stop several feet distant from the structure. She addresses the boy building it, who has a pretty serious expression for someone playing in the sand.]
Preparing for the tide?

No allies, no reinforcements, no additional supplies - this was a desperate situation indeed. ]
If I last that long.
[ Not spoken bitterly - just matter-of-fact. Maybe he'll die sooner. Oh well. ]

The people hanging around her aren't real - they never are - and they melt into the backdrop without it quite being possible to notice just when or how they left, or where they went. Ami tosses a casual smile up at Cloud and her characteristic greeting.]
It's been awhile! Cloud. [And she's glad. Glad for the reality, glad that it's him. She'd wanted to see him again.]

Hm.
[his brief nod is his expression of that as well as the quiet hum. Suddenly the beach doesn't seem to large and he doesn't feel so awkward. Then his eyes will focus in on the cover of her book and he'll ask:]
What're you reading?
Reply
Maybe that's not 'so-called', anymore. Maybe.
Ami startles and smoothly covers the identifying features of her book cover with a hand as she answers lightly.]
No, it's nothing. [Mizuno Ami does not waste time reading paperback novels.]

This is great!

She pulls herself together pretty quickly as she realizes it's Sora, however. A tiny smile hovers around her lips as she slips her book away. The people around her aren't real - it never is real - and they fade into the background without it being quite possible to pinpoint just when they left or where they went.
This makes her give all her attention to the true visitor.]
Planning to swim?

[And he's all ready for a swim, too! He wears a shirt when swimming, though. But he seems rather happy, especially compared to their last encounter.]
You?

Your mood seems good today. [Which is probably as much comment as he'll get on the fact that she noticed it, and a possible invitation to tell her more.]

[ Safe to say, the Doctor is now hovering by said igloo. ]

Do you like it?

Like it? Like it?! I love it! It's so... so... humans. What will you think up of next? Penguin sledding?

Don't lump me together with the people over there, or normal humans. They couldn't even imagine doing this.
