If it's any consolation, while I've seen ROTK, I've not seen the extended edition.

Waiting for Christmas for the trilogy :-)

Has either Dan or Nick got it? I'd like to see it too. :-)

Chatting with a couple of SG:A cast at a film event a month or so back they were keen to stress how much better they felt it gets after the first 6-7 episodes. Not having seen even one, I just had to nod, and let other people come up with the obvious question - why? I think the main point was confidence in the writers and director that (and how) the new characters worked together so that they could write stuff which was noticeably different from SG.

I would agree with them; what I was primarily worried about before hand was that the characters sounded like carbon copies of the SG1 team - and it did take a few episodes for them to work from there to fully realised characters. The fact that episode 3 is an absolute cracker helped a lot, as did the fact that the they had already established McKay's character fairly well from various guest appearences in previous SG1 eps, and to a lesser extent Dr Weir, so that gave them some solid characters to lean on whilst the rest found their voices. The turning point is really episode 7, a character focus episode on Doctor Beckett, which turns him from little more than a stereotypical cardboard cutout into a real person. From there it just keeps on picking up.
