Missing Time

*Samus floated; in a drug-induced haze, and in a tank of radiant fluid. She drifted in and out of consciousness, her thoughts comfortably muzzy. She had slept for much of the first day, body and mind recovering from the prolonged punishment of heat exposure. After the treatment that rid her of the psionic venom (or at least its pyrokinetic symptoms ( Read more... )

Lis wasn't worried when Saye was late. This sort of thing happened to her all the time. It used to surprise her, people spending so much money to get the firm started on an investigation, only to disappear or change their minds a few days later; now, she took it as a matter of course. So when she got the message about the "airlock accident" she didn't question it or press for details; she gave Saye her and the firms' condolances and offered to reschedule.

*"Saye" is quick to agree to that, requesting an appointment not long after she's due to be out of the tank. She also alludes to the accident being a good opportunity to try a new look--her skin will be too new to take dyes properly, so she won't be able to pull off the Saye identity's pigmentation and hair color, only her eyes. She'll simply have to hope that no one notices the similarities between Sayeen Tun'quaahl's new face and that of netjournalist and pro-Pirate propogandist Anara Oruss.*

*Yeah, it's probably the tranqs that are making this seem like a good idea.*

Lis reschedules whenever Saye thinks she'll feel up to it, and with only one comment: "Oh? Will you be looking more like your parents this time?"

*Samus doesn't reply to that query right away. Over the rest of the week, her new skin is painstakingly cultivated. Her change in circumstances does prompt a change in skin, though; the last one she had was optimized for long periods in a vacsuit--minimal pores, hairless below the neck, very slow to slough off, but she had paid a price in poor thermal transfer. Without a vacsuit, her body wasn't able to properly use her skin to shed excess heat; too long without a vacsuit, and she'd die of heatstroke ( ... )

Somewhere around the third day or so, the holomonitor's comm-alert may go off. The signature is located from some backwater planet in the Vega quadrant, however the envelope text might catch Samus' eye:
ITS ME YR LUV SQUID!

*Samus smiles at that, and opens the connection, sending text and receiving whatever form the inbound signal takes.*

*Kssssh* "--what, no pictures?"
The vid screen comes to life showing a large transparent purple eye. Tak pulls back and straightens the camera slightly, causing her and the entire room to shake. Then she curls back into the console-chair behind her.
"Saye?" She begins, the --or Samus? hanging unspoken behind it.

*Samus smiles fondly, and types.*

[It's me, love. I could give you a video feed, but I'm not a pleasant sight right now. Are you sure you want to see me skinless? But more important, how are you?]

((I don't, normally, and reading that post gives me no reason to change that policy. In words that would fit on a cat macro, DO NOT WANT.

Chozoborg... what the hell. And that's from someone playing a paranoid lesbian quasi-metroid version of Samus. The most conservative canon-adherent, I'm not.))

((XD Bob's ideas are almost always crazy and crack-filled, but I haven't seen anything he's done that I didn't really like. Granted, Chozoborg is a new one. Still, it may make for some interesting stuff.))

((You can play with whatever and whomever you like. Fortunately, those of us who don't want to deal with it don't have to. I know they're sure as hell not coming from the Facet Lis is in.

It's creepywrong.))
