LOL! that was very informative! I always wondered how people named their characters. I find a name and I fall in love with it. Taryn will always be Taryn and Nola will always be Nola.

I really should go back to these characters!

I seem to be 50/50. Either the name hits me off the bat and I keep it, or I start hating it and change it a thousand times.

I forgot to add that one of Martha's classmates, TYSHAWN, I got from grafitti on the side of a building. :)

Names are very possibly the only thing the muse sends to me direct, one time, and completely intact as is. I will change a name if I HAVE to, but most names seem just so right for the character I'm writing about, I hate to. I'm struggling right now, because my MC's name IS her, but I don't know that I'll be able to reconcile it with naming traditions in her culture/heritage. Sigh.

I think it's easier to stick with the original name, but I have to admit, I like changing them, too.

Can't remember, no. But as soon as I finish this last @#^%$!*% chapter of Bone Dance, I'm going to clean out my file cabinet, and I bet I can find hard copies of the first chapters to come through. I'll let you know.
