Self Pep Talk

I think I know what the problem is with this wip. Why I'm sitting here like a brain dead lump, going "Duhhhhhhhhh, duh, duh" for hours on end.

I'm writing in sequence. Rephrase: I am trying to write in sequence. Which means whenever I get to a certain part, and don't quite know what supposed to happen next, I freeze instead of jumping ahead. ( Read more... )

You wait four whole paragraphs before you check the wordcount? You patient person you!

My first two books I wrote in time sequence. My third book I wrote out of sequence and it seemed to work better, in a weird way. Now I'm working on the fourth book out of sequence and whenever I get stuck on one scene I just open a new file and move on to something else. Then I find I go back to the scenes I was stuck on a few days or weeks later and I'm not stuck on them anymore.

Of course, I'm not sure where TF the plot is going, but that's another story.

Perfect list for me right now. Especially the timeline bit. I'm writing a scene where the MC and another dude come across this giant sky bridge and I'm pretty sure it's daytime and I've had them walking through the woods for two days straight. Poor guys. I'm the queen of obscene notes to myself, but I find it's the perfect way to keep going. "Add more later." Move on, ahha. I need to remember it more often instead of agonizing.

The more I write, the more obscene my notes get.

Now I'm writing them in RED.

Hi there, Jeannine,
I've been meaning to *friend* you for awhile, but SusanWrites post today sort of kicked me in the derriere. We have a lot of mutual friends. Great post, too!
