Okay that's officially worse than the story behind me not seeing a dentist for 5 years, until my husband tricked me into seeing one.

Yep. We were at an appt. for him. I was in the waiting room (it was as far into a dentist's office as I was willing to go). The dentist came out saying Chriss wanted my opinion on something. I went in and the next thing I know, Chriss is getting out of the chair and telling me to sit in it. I'd made the mistake of complaining to him about something with my wisdom tooth a few days before and he knew the only way I'd get it looked at is if he tricked me into it. Turned out it was okay, it was just my gums swelling over the part of the tooth that was still cutting in partly because a new section was coming in and partly because I was pregnant. But I was so mad at him for it.

To this day I am terrified to go to a dentist. I am in dire need of one right now, but I will not go. I'll go when the pain is too much to take.

Dentists are like shoes. Keep trying them till you find one that fits. I had several dentists who caused me serious pain and I dreaded going in for even a cleaning. On a recommendation from a friend, I found my current dentist who is the sweetest, GENTLEST dentist in the world. ALSO FEMALE. It might make a difference.

Wow. That's just...yikes! I'm going to think twice about complaining about my orthodontist-related pain now; it's never been anywhere near as bad as that!

This dude was either demented or psychotic. I'm sure he was also cheap which was why my folks picked him. ;)
