Self-styled patriot though I may appear to be, I have to wonder whether it's not so much England, but, as you point out at the end, just somewhere else, somewhere different. I know that when I was in Japan last year, I missed certain aspects of this verdant isle, but now I am back, I consider it a drab, dreary scrodbasket (from the Simpsons, I believe; a term used to describe Springfield; meaning unknown) and Japan, if not exactly verdant, certainly in some ways a nicer place than here.

We had a morning of extremely pleasant weather on 16th, in fact - certainly in London, anyway, but allow me to inform you that it didn't last, that it clouded over most drearily, attempted to rain and was just generally dispiriting for those of us trying to make merry today. :D
Anyway, we always want what we can't have. That's how the Rolling Stones were able to sing "You Can't Always Get What You Want" and still make sense. Or do I have that wrong?
