Hi. Sorry for the delay- I'm currently making my way through Italy and internet connection has been a bit sporadic. I think page 43 of this nifty pdf has what you're looking for (page 43 in arabic numerals, so the 57th page of the document). Just whack in some multicols and treat them as you would any other. Make sure you keep track of how many columns you use though, otherwise you'll get some really messed up layout! (Fairly obvious, I know, but it's the sort of thing I toy with when I'm bored and wonder what LaTeX does when it's fed that kind of nonsense...)
Thanks Aidan, I'll have a butcher's at that tomorrow. Assuming that works, all I have to do is work out how I broke BibTeX (almost certainly a syntax or spelling error in the .bib file or closing a \cite with a bracket not a brace, etc.)
It's not as if it's your job to be Teh Gays' resident technogeek - although I think we might have to get you a t-shirt to that effect :p
