The renovations Grif had commissioned to give a slightly more personal touch to the base formerly known as Blood Gulch Outpost Number One were more or less complete. Outside, it didn't look overly different from the original spec, squat grey concrete rising up out of the dirt and sparse grass of the box canyon, its weather slightly warm and sunny,

Mack -- straight off duty and more or less still in uniform -- has, in fact, dragged Claire along on this. He figures she needs to see the place about as much as he does if she plans on learning anything from them. For the curious, these pants don't have a back pocket, much less Martha's number in 'em. He looks vaguely like something out of a period drama; Dhonal's a bit Victorian and those knee-high black boots haven't really been in style for men for...a while.

Claire's idea of presentable is shorts and a t-shirt. She assumed that since it was a training center, the type of clothes she'd wear to gym class would work. However, she's...not really sure, going by what Mack's wearing. "Are we in 1850?"

Yes, she's going to crack jokes for a while.

"Hell, no," Grif says. "This is The Future. Things are very shiny here."

And, indeed, the lights on the crenelation-like up-croppings on the roof of the base are quite shiny, although the grey concrete-like material in which they're embedded is not, so much.

"Welcome to Blood Gulch Outpost Number One, still badly in need of a name. As you can see, this is the roof, also where the teleporter is and thus where people arrive and leave." He nods to one of the two ramps leading off the roof towards the ground, one on either end of the roof. "C'mon, I'll give you the ground view, then we can head inside."
