I am disgusted by the people I took my student loans from (KHESLC a.k.a. the Student Loan People)

The Student Loan People are the people I pay my student loans too, and I once “enjoyed” paying them because I knew it would help people in the program, and even though it was a pain sometimes because I couldn’t set it up to pay them easily on-line, I didn’t mind.

I'd definitely consider moving to Alaska to teach, but have some good leads in Seattle (close to getting a job teaching summer school), and am becoming more involved in the teacher's union here (SEA) to to support progressive change.

Plus, I doubt my wife would be ready to go just yet (though if they do have any public universities up there that would accept her into a Japanese/Chinese/Asian languages graduate program, who knows?).

Still, you could be one of those types of teachers some years from now. It just takes time to figure out what you want to do with your life and what you're really good at (plus, enough time/self-esteem to get past the novice stage with the help of some good mentors).
