Ugh, I forgot how awful postpartum is until you just reminded me. I was either waking up in a puddle of sweat or milk every night!

I'm glad things went well for you! Your birth story was fun to read :)

GREAT job mama! :-) I have had this fear of induction and I plan on a completely natural birth. But the more I hear from moms that had to be induced because of medical necessity, the more i KNOW I can do it still without pain meds! I'm doing Hypnobirthing and my instructor was induced and did not have anything for pain and I know of another friend who did not have pain meds for her pitocin induction either. It's giving me hope and easing my mind that if worse comes to worse and I have to be induced...I can do it! :-)

I'm happy for you and your sweet family! :-) Congrats!

Great write up. :o) I feel the same way about hospital births. I didn't need an induction but the birth centre we went to, all of the nurses were trained midwives and they had a NO IV policy unless it was absolutely necessary for anti-b's or pitocin (that's why I chose them, I'm THAT terrified of needles). They encouragd drug-free births, did not do epidurals except in the event of an emergency c-section and all c-sections had to be an emergency. If it wasn't urgent, they would actually put you in an ambulance and take you to another hospital for the c-section. They also did the same thing they did with you with the skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding right away - with a lactation consultant in the room, if you gave birth between 9-5 - and they also had a massage therapist on staff so if you laboured from 9-5 M-F, she would come in and massage you through contractions (I declined this with Wes and Madison was born on a Saturday), they had a birthing tub, birthing balls, "rooming-in" was expected...blah blah blah ( ... )

Yes, I feel the same way. There wasn't anything I would have done differently had I been at home that I couldn't do in the hospital, except maybe push in the tub longer and possibly have a water birth. But I would gladly trade that for all the extra help I got in the hospital.
