The dashboard in my car has so many lights flashing that it looks like a Christmas tree. And my gas tank is always running on E. I clunk, clink, and clank my way to work where I teach to my full capacity in a classroom filled past capacity. My kids come to me struggling to read, write, add, and subtract, barely surviving in a system that is well ( Read more... )

That's what they claimed in Ohio. I've yet to see evidence of it. AW

as they say "North Carolina, 1st in Flight, 49th in Education".

I kid, but yea...the funding thing sucks balls for you and your trying to do what you need to do to help the kids.

This must be so frustrating, and so disheartening. In California, I sometimes have the impression that much of our money goes into the huge beaurocracy of administrators who spend time forming mandates of how and what teachers will do, while then leaving them no funding and no flexibility in actually doing their jobs. :(

It really is when you think about it. I recently just got cable TV and those commercials are like a slap in the face and I do question on the *actual* help it provides. I definitely didn't choose my profession for the money, but it's ridiculous to have to struggle so much (and every teacher I know personally who did not "marry rich" has similar struggles) and even more ridiculous to have to spend so much of our own money on our classroom/students.
