Hahaha yeah totally with you there on Thor. It was better than what I expected, but my bar had been set so low that I don't think it was possible to be worse LOL
It was just too predictable. As soon as adult Loki appeared I knew he was going to turn evil Orz As soon as the fight with the flaming giant started I said to my friend, "And now the hammer flies over..." And it did exactly that Orz There wasn't even any point saying "And he's going to let go of the hand now..." in the end =___= It pretty much ticked every cliche in the book.
I'm not sure superhero movies were ever fresh LOL On the other hand I think Thor was a bit hampered by the source material anyway. I can't see anyone based on THE ultra alpha male of the extremely belligerent Norse gods could possibly have much character. LOL.
Yeah, it's just too full of cliches. and the romance was just SO contrived. Like it went from "OMG, freak! crazy delusional dude!" to "He's really hot though" to "OMG, MUST SPEND ETERNITY TOGETHER!!!" in the space of like 2 days. I mean... really?
I think Loki was actually the most interesting character. But I guess you're right, there's really not much to work with when the character started out as being quite one dimensional... I just read on wiki that there's going to be an Avengers movie with all these superheroes... Sounds like a hot mess already. But it's helmed by Joss Whedon, so I probably will end up seeing it. XD
I'm actually looking forward to The Avengers after seeing Thor. I thought Hemsworth did a nice job of making such a one-dimensional and bull-headed character actually likeable. And it would really only be headed by four main superheros - Iron Man whom I love already, Thor, Captain America which looked tolerable from the trailer, and Hulk whom I can just ignore LOL A couple of the other superheros like Hawkeye and Black Widow would only be there for support cast.
I really liked Loki as well. Villains get all the character.
Oh, yeah, and the romance ==; I like Portman but heck...even that was beyond her. They might as well have just typed out on a blank screen "Oh, and romance happened. Just take our word for it."
