This was really beautiful. You paint a picture with the words, even if Shayera thinks she can't. ;)

It's occurred to me on a reread that, along with the prompt, you're sort of calling St. John dignified. I like that. He'd never think of himself that way, and I've never really thought of him that way, but being with Shayera brings out the best in him.
