Petal 6 - Video

[onceaweiss]

[The video comes on to show Aya and Umi sitting back to back. Wrapped around them are wires meant to look like rose vines with long thorns. Along the vines are red and white roses. Both are already bleeding. Aya is the first to stir and look around. His eyes narrow as he glances back to see Umi.] Umi. You need to wake up.

[It'd happened again... She'd almost allowed herself to forget the last time it'd happened. This once it was even more horrible. What it involved...

Shaking her head, Umi tried to hold back the rage and anguish that the sole idea of what the City had done... what the curse itself had just suggested she should do... No, it was far too much! She gritted her teeth as both the loss of blood and anger made her feel dizzy. She'd NEVER let it end in that way! What she'd promised Ken burned inside her mind. She wouldn't let herself get killed here, and least of all lose Aya to this...!

Still turned to face him, she did her best to gather her determination and hold his stare without seeming faint.]

So much for magic, then... [She bit her lip at the thought.] Dammit! This place... It really thought of EVERYTHING...

---Then grab it fast! [First reaction. Truth be told, it was perhaps because she hadn't realized the graveness of the matter, but only in very little part. All she wanted was knowing Aya was out of there.] Can you reach it?

Umi. Find your key first. [Because he could see what he was going to have to do to get his and he wasn't prepared to let her know about that yet.]

Use yours! Who knows if there's even one for me... Don't waste time!

[Even as she spoke she understood... Aya was having none of that unless she convinced him she was going to follow him. She almost chuckled. They DID have lots in common.]

Use it, then hand it here. I'll use that one too!

[Well now he turned his head to face her.]

Umi. Shut up and find your key.

[He meant that with love. Really.]

GOSH, you're... impossible! [But she felt grateful for that banter because it kept her from thinking about the situation in too much of a grim light.]

...Where was yours... anyway!?

... [Well...]

Trying looking in front of you.

[Could it be that easy? She obeyed at once, squinting through the annoying blood leaking into her eyes, blurring her vision.]

There's... SOMETHING. It's dark but... a glint...? Maybe that's-?

[onceaweiss]

That's probably the key. And, if your key is where I think it is...you're going to have to stretch forward to get it, right?

It looks---BOY, looks... I can... barely see the stupid thing! But... [She squinted again.] Yeah, pretty out of reach...

[onceaweiss]

Mine is the same. [He sighed and shook his hair from his face.]

We need to get a hand free in order to reach the keys.

[She grimaced at the mere idea. But smiled at Aya nonetheless. It looked like they'd agreed on how to do this.]

...That's... going to hurt like no tomorrow...

[onceaweiss]

That's putting it mildly. [He looked straight ahead now to concentrate.]

Alright. Work on getting a hand free first. We'll get the key after that.

...Right. You do the same. [If they were going to do this... Well. It was silly, but it'd feel better that way, at the same time.] Ready?

[Twisting her arm she did her best to free it from the rose vines. With it passed the last of her bloodied sleeve. Umi bit her lip hard enough to keep herself from gasping.]

[At the same time, Aya worked his own arm free, grinding his teeth together. His body was still sensitive after the shock he'd been given but he didn't have time to focus on that. Umi was in danger.

Finally, he twisted his arm free...ignoring the blood coming from the torn skin.] Umi? Do you have your arm free yet?

[The reply came only after a while of panting breath and a gasp. She hadn't been able to help it in the end. But at least she wouldn't scream.]
