"Mmmph."

I woke up enough to register Murphy's voice, though it took my brain a minute to process her question. "Sure," I said blearily, rolling over. "What's up?" Murphy had had trouble sleeping in the past, I knew, but I hadn't thought it would follow her here.

I snickered, and yawned. "More like I'll save you from him," I said. "You haven't lived until you've woken up half-drowned in drool."

She yawned back and left her hand where it was, thumb running back and forth. "If you say so," she says, amused, and then snuggles curls to rest her head in the crook of his arm and shoulder.

Yep, he got a smack across the chest for his trouble, and she opened one eye. "'parently not that trainable," she mumbled, with mock irritation.

"Mmph. Dresden? Sssh." She leaned up to plant a blind kiss -- up would get his jaw, at least, if not his mouth -- and settled in to sleep.

I shut up mid-sentence. She kissed me. She. Kissed me. Had I been less tired, I would have done a mental boogie dance.

"G'night, Murph," I murmured, before the soft rhythm of her breathing lulled me to sleep myself.
