Having no way of really getting rid of his excess energy, and despite having no reason to really stay in shape, Rodney's taken up running along the beach. (He stays well fed, here, after all. He's got to work it off somehow ( Read more... )

At least the bloody snow is gone.

It does little to stave off Eames' own restless streak, brought on mostly by a continued sense of confusion, but there is that much, and he's willing to accept that much optimism. He needs to, for the sake of his own sanity. It's all a little less disorienting this way, anyway, not quite so constant a reminder of the dream world he left behind. In the absence of answers he knows he'll never get, it's the one good thing he has to focus on.

So he takes to the beach, finding it far more palatable now that it's not icy and snow-covered. He's been keeping to himself, for the most part, but the sound of a question causes him to stop, a second or two passing before he realizes it's directed at him. "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine," he answers, with a slight smile when he notices that he recognizes the speaker, has spoken to him several times. "Yourself?"

"Not too bad," Rodney admits, tilting his head from side to side, feet fidgeting in accordance with the motion. He doesn't know the other man - not very well, at least. Still, he's enjoyed what conversation they have had so far. And even if he hadn't, he's always been an extremely sociable sort of bloke.

"Care for a seat in the sand? I could use a little company."

"Sure thing," Eames agrees easily, not hesitating to take the offered seat. They don't know each other well, it's true, but that's nothing new for hm, anyway; as himself, at least, he'd made a point of not being close to people, not really knowing anyone well on an interpersonal level. (Watching, studying, understanding, that's a different story. It's a momentary once-over that clues Eames into the fact that Rodney has been exercising, and he raises an eyebrow. "Get a good workout?"

"My limbs are putting up a protest, but I'd say I did," comes the cheerful reply. "Then again, I spent most of the winter up in the Compound playing cards on my lonesome, so I shouldn't really have expected any different." Still, he feels more refreshed than not. That, and a lot less restless, now that he's worked off a reasonable amount of energy. "What finds you out on the beach?"
