kinda like Iliad 'n Rem and such~ Inhumane scientific testing and changes and the likes. But ... ooh, I'm glad that Garnet has Nyx at least to look after him now <3 <3 And Moth (who I want to see more of~~) and Vand <3
Inhumane scientific testing, yes...that would be a good way to put it. In the end the works of the scientists in question (the original had died by that point and a team of his students had taken his place) were declared to be abomimation...so at least it can be said that it is over now. Of course, 'over' involved all of Garnet's siblings dying...being murdered, really, as they were killed before the building was set on fire. ;__; Garnet only survived because he hid in the back of a wardrobe, and then Dima found him while the building was burning down and convinced him to come with her...and she brought him to Vand, who brought him to Nyx. <3
The only real cage Garnet was in was the mansion he and his siblings lived in...the doors were never locked (...well, they were, but you could get out, just not in) but it never occured to Garnet or any of his siblings to go outside, ever. He lived his entire life in that one building, because that is all there was to him. He knew there was an outside world, of course, because other people came into the mansion...but he was trained rather thoroughly to think like a slave, and so to him the outside was someplace scary where he would be hurt. He still doesn't really realise that the way he was created, raised, and treated wasn't right, either...he knows the last part was bad, the 'gene therapy' that his Master did shortly before he died, his last great master work at attempted immortality that sort-of worked--Garnet stopped aging, however he developed a massive need for energy (in the qi/prana sense), his hair turned black, his eyes turned a deeper red, and he grew fangs. XD; Not exactly what they were trying for....
