Under a Shady Tree - Thursday Lunchtime

Jun 29, 2006 12:57

Peter looked up at the sky a bit doubtfully as he waited for Willow.  It looked like the rain was going to keep away until after lunch.  He hoped.
He sat down on the blanket he'd brought and pulled out his minicomp.  Because even the threat of rain wasn't going to keep him from checking the World Cup news.

Willow came up wearing a light, flowery summer sundress, and a pair of red and white sneakers that looked very similar to the ones she'd worn yesterday. She carried a small bag in her hand.

"Arms!" she said, plantively.

"Are we under attack?" Peter asked, mishearing a 'to arms' and standing up alertly.

"My arms!" Willow said, holding them up limply. "I think I broke them."

Peter grinned, then covered it with his hand. "I'm so sorry." He went to take her hands in his. "This would be a bad time to tell you that it's going to hurt more tomorrow if you don't do something with them today?"

"Yes, yes it would," Willow told him. She kept looking pouty. "I could barely get dressed! Also? Holding a purse is hard when you can't move your shoulders. I have no idea how you knights do it."

He'd been expecting she'd be a bit sore in the arms today, but to be actually faced with it, he felt very badly. "We get a bit used to it after a while and use gallons of liniment," Peter said. "I brought some with me if you'd like to try it. It helps your muscles relax a bit and takes some of the pain away." He hugged her quickly. "Do your hands hurt too?"

Willow hugged him back. Then demonstrated how her hands were okay by holding on to his shirt so he couldn't go far. "Ahem?"

Peter looked down at her with a grin. "Yes?"

"I believe I'm owed smoochies," she told him, grinning back as well. "And my guess is we'd rather do that before breaking out anything stinky."

"It's not stinky!" Peter protested. "Well, it smells like herbs mostly. Not that I'm not happy to pay my debt to you." He bent down to kiss her, his hands on her waist.

"There's a deficit anyway," Willow replied. She smiled and kissed him back. "Much better."

"I'll keep making it up to you?" he asked, grinning. "If you like, of course."

"I might not mind," Willow told him. She gave him one last quick kiss, then squared her shoulders. "Okay. Stuff that sounds disgusting. Go for it."

"You won't think it sounds disgusting when your arms stop hurting," Peter said with a half-smile as he led her back to the blanket. He pulled a tin of liniment out of his bag and opened it then offered it to Willow to smell. "See? It smells like herbs. And grass, I suppose. Astringent maybe."

Willow sniffed, then made a face. "Mint too much to hope for?"

"I'll try to find some smelling of that next time," Peter said, laughing. He smelled it as well. "Maybe I'm just too used to it. Smells homey to me."

He looked at Willow then at the tin, considering how best to do this.
