Well if you read or watch the news you've heard about the Arizona shooting and are probably really annoyed with hearing about it. Yes it is sad, but of course it isn't the first time something like this has happened. We recall Columbine and the Virgina Tech shootings and the more recent school board attack that was considered to be police suicide. ( Read more... )

Because our country has the history it does, I don't think total gun control will ever pass. If it did, it wouldn't work. But licensed control might, and I think it's not a bad idea to require people to have a license to own a gun. Of course, not everyone will comply, but not everyone ever does.

And sick people will find new ways to accomplish their goals. Firearms just tend to make it easier.

I do agree with you, I'm not sure how gun regulation would go. As far as sick people are concerned I know that certain precautions could have been made in the case, like getting him a mental health test. People already knew he wasn't well. Another thing about the personal situation would be that there was absolutely no security at the event, which doesn't seem safe to me at all.

There was no security? That seems kind of dumb. I mean. Arizona has about the most relaxed gun laws in the USA, you would think they'd have stepped up security.

That's what I was thinking about it. But I don't know whether they just didn't think about it or if the local law enforcement didn't want to give them anyone. I don't know. I feel like they should be thinking about it
