Maybe it is like with checking webcomics? They just want to see what the question is and answer it without having to take a lot of time?

Definitely. I always thought it was supposed to be thought-provoking, and those are the coolest answers anyway.

I find that most people write in a very thought provoking way. Some people do use livejournal as a forum for free expression and creativity but I guess there will always be someone who doesn't see it that way.
