Hi, all--I'm a lurky lurker who lurks, but I definitely do read. And until lately, I'd gone years without drawing anything worth mentioning, but I busted out the sketching gear for this contest. Thanks! I actually ended up wishing that I'd used a bigger piece of paper so that I could have done more library-related detail. I was wondering if he looked handsome enough, given only what I was able to show here. ^^

Oh my God! You're SO talented! Looks like you've captured the essence perfectly. I'm also into drawing and painting, which has lately turned into something more than just a hobby. :-)
By the way, a colleague of mine pointed me towards 'deviantart' a couple of days back and I have to say I'm hooked onto the site.

I've had my DA account for a while, but since I upload so rarely I end up using the site just to track awesome artists. Now that I've actually finished a piece (*happy dance*) maybe I can get back to contributing... If I had a higher output, I'd definitely get myself a paid account so that people could order prints (that and a Zazzle account, so they could order T-shirts, mugs, neckties...XD).

Wonderful work.
I love how it's very gothic/medieval in style and feel. You lettering is also excellent.
No wonder you're proud to finish, it's tremendously detailed in it's simplicity.

Thanks! ^_^ Back when I was getting trained in newschool graphic design, my teacher told us how, in the oldschool days, designers had to be able to hand-draw all the lettering at any point size... I'm pretty sure that I didn't get every letter spot-on, but doing all this work made me appreciate the skill that people had before computers made it all so easy. :P
